Data Analytics and Visualization Specialist

Location: Utica, NY
Job Type: Full-Time, 12-Month
Work Arrangement: This is a fully on-campus position.

The College is looking for exceptional colleagues to join the MVCC community. We are currently seeking a Data Analytics and Visualization Specialist in our Institutional Research department. The Data Analytics and Visualization Specialist assists the Dean of Institutional Research and Organizational Performance with assessment processes such as institutional effectiveness, enrollment management, post-graduation outcomes, and ad hoc project requests.

Key responsibilities for this position include:

  • Administers student course surveys and assists staff with creating and managing general surveys. Manages survey tool user accounts, permissions, and access controls;
  • Responsible for accurate daily enrollment updates to stakeholders, summarizing progress and presenting data in a clear, organized format;
  • Assists with ad-hoc data requests, working closely with manager and other team members to understand project requirements, and contributes to larger analytical projects;
  • Utilizes software (MS Excel, SQL) and simple algorithms to retrieve and analyze data from various sources such as databases, spreadsheets, and external data sources;
  • Utilizes visualization tools (e.g., Excel) to create charts and graphs that effectively communicate results in a clear and accessible format;
  • Develops programmatic solutions to recurring data requests as needed;
  • Participates in data quality checks and audits to ensure the integrity and reliability of data used for reporting, collaborating with stakeholders in various functional units as needed;
  • Supports data initiatives related to institutional reporting activities;
  • Performs other duties related to this job description and as assigned by the Dean of Institutional Research and Organizational Performance.

Work schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 4:30pm

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Demonstrated experience in data analysis, maintenance, reporting, analyzing data quality, or related field
  • Computer database experience
  • Effective communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Higher education experience
  • SQL database management experience
