This position is to fill an Investigative Specialist Manager position within the Investigative Support Section of Louisiana State Police.
The Investigative Specialist Manager will oversee the daily operations of the Louisiana State Analytical and Fusion Exchange (LA-SAFE) within the Analytical Support Unit of the Investigative Support Section. The incumbent will rely on a comprehensive knowledge of LA-SAFE's organizational mission, goals, objectives, and internal procedures, practices, and processes. The Investigative Specialist Manager also serves as a liaison with other law enforcement and intelligence agencies representatives. Investigative Specialist Manager also participates in outreach to schools, attends conferences, seminars, and meetings designed to impart greater knowledge of the criminal intelligence process.
This position may require rotating shift work, to include some weekends and holidays, as well as on-call rotations during emergencies.
Position Duties
Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus four years of experience in analyzing intelligence or criminal investigative reports, gaming regulation, or conducting criminal investigations as a commissioned law enforcement officer; OR
A bachelor's degree plus four years of experience in analyzing intelligence or criminal investigative reports, gaming regulation, or conducting criminal investigations as a commissioned law enforcement officer; OR
A bachelor's degree plus graduation from a military intelligence school for commissioned officers, warrant officers, or senior (E-7, E-8, E-9) noncommissioned officers of the US Armed Forces.
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
An applicant who has been convicted of a felony or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws are granted.
All persons appointed to this job will be required by the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) and Louisiana Police Terminal Operator Certification Program Guidelines to meet the terminal operator certification/re-certification requirements.
INVESTIGATIVE SUPPORT SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
Must be able to obtain Federal Government security clearances for access to classified information.

Job Duties:
As an Investigative Specialist Manager, you will be instrumental in overseeing the daily analytic operations and investigative support functions of the Louisiana State Analytical and Fusion Exchange (LA-SAFE). The Investigative Specialist Manager's duties and responsibilities can be broken down into categories that shall include, but are not limited to, the following:
ANALYTIC OPERATION FUNCTIONS:
- Oversees the completion of all analytical operations dealing with Louisiana State Analytical and Fusion Exchange (LA-SAFE).
- Articulates the roles and missions of the agency, its partners in the information sharing environment, and Its customer sets.
- Assess opportunities and challenges of the agency analytic process, including the understanding of emerging and evolving policy and strategic issues.
- Analyze the Importance of how agency operations and process can support regional and national Initiatives.
- Provide leadership, facilitates production and dissemination of Information.
INVESTIGATIVE SUPPORT FUNCTION:
- Represents the agency at state and national focus group meetings to stay abreast of the latest and most crucial trends involving homeland security.
- Analyzes complex investigation and intelligence reports, and conducts special intelligence analysis projects as assigned by the Analytical Unit Supervisor or upper level Command Staff.
- Manages intelligence analysis and dissemination of criminal information using the intelligence cycle process and is a subject expert in the management of intelligence concerning various threat groups and Critical Infrastructure.
- Prepares and conducts blocks of training for cadet classes, subordinates, and others as needed.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to obtain Federal Government security clearances for access to classified information.
