Role Purpose
To support daily operational activities and ensure high-quality service delivery to internal and external stakeholders, while managing customer queries and assisting with month-end and year-end processes in full compliance with financial and operational policies.
Role Accountabilities
This role provides accurate and compliant financial and operational support by managing daily activities such as income allocation, reconciliations, accruals, reporting, payroll support, and procurement processing. It ensures strong collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, timely resolution of customer and finance-related queries, and strict adherence to company policies, financial controls, and audit requirements. The position also contributes to continuous process improvements, maintains high-quality documentation and service delivery, supports month-end and year-end closing activities, and ensures information security compliance across all responsibilities.
Role specific skills, knowledge and experience
The ideal candidate should have between six months and three years of experience in customer service or back-end operations, with a strong understanding of finance processes and proven ability to deliver accurate reporting. Experience working with SAP or other ERP systems is desirable.

Language: Strong English proficiency is crucial for this role, requiring fluency in both written and spoken communication to effectively navigate British Council systems and international operations.
Education: The candidate should hold a bachelor’s degree in any field, with a degree in Finance or Accounting preferred.
Locally recruited: Applications are welcomed from candidates currently in this location with a natural right to work. Relocation support is not provided.
Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) card holders will need have, or be able to obtain, a valid special work permit issued from Government of India (GOI) to work in the British High Commission (BHC). BHC will not be able to sponsor work visas or obtain/ assist with the special work permit from GOI. Offers of employment made to OCI card holders will be conditional upon candidates obtaining a special work permit.

Work Schedule: This is a 24/7 on-site role with rotating shifts, including night shifts. The position offers two days off per week, which may not always fall on weekends. Flexibility and adaptability to a continuous shift-based environment are essential. There is no hybrid work arrangement for this position and it requires working onsite five days a week.
