Quality Control Technician (HS2)
Location: Chipping Sodbury
Salary: up to £30,000 depending on experience
About the Role
We are seeking a Quality Control Technician to join our team at Heidelberg Materials UK. In this role, you will be responsible for sampling, field testing, and specimen preparation for Concrete, Asphalt, and Quarry products, ensuring compliance with British Standards and company protocols.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct sampling and field testing of materials.
- Prepare and manage specimens for laboratory analysis.
- Maintain accurate documentation in line with our quality management program.
- Collaborate effectively within a team under remote supervision.
- Ensure efficiency while maintaining exceptional standards and attention to detail.
Key accountabilities
- Maximising the contribution of the technical departments towards ensuring cost effective product manufacture.
- Establishing and maintaining product quality levels consistent with commercial/operational drivers and customer requirements.
- Administering high quality technical support to Commercial, Operations and external customers.
- Other duties as requested by your manager
- Carry out sampling, field testing and specimen preparation of Concrete, Asphalt and Quarry products in accordance with relevant British / European standards and company procedures.
- Investigate and feed back to the technical and operations teams on quality issues at relevant sites and depots under their control, including but not limited to:
- Concrete sampling, testing and preparation
- Asphalt sampling, testing and preparation
- Aggregate sampling, testing and preparation
- Preliminary plant or customer site investigations
- Preliminary investigation of product issues
- Review of water demands in RMC including plant M.C testing
- Review of site practice
- Review of truck delivery practices / issues
- Review product consistence variances
- Raise NCRs and Near Hits as appropriate.
- Challenge behaviours which demonstrate a negative attitude towards safety and/or quality.
- Assist with transportation of test specimens.
