Registered Nurse – Telemetry/Medical-Surgical (Travel)

Completion Bonus: $2,500 per contract (up to $7,500 after three contracts)

Position Overview

ATC Healthcare is seeking an experienced Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN) for a travel assignment in Omaha, Nebraska. This role covers the 7 West, 7 East, and 5 East units, caring primarily for adult patients with mixed medical, surgical, cardiac, and telemetry needs. The RN will deliver high-quality patient care, manage a 5:1 nurse-to-patient ratio, and support a diverse patient population in a fast-paced acute care setting.

This position is an Auto-Offer assignment. Candidates must pass an open-book pass/fail clinical skills exam during orientation (90% required). Failure results in contract termination per facility policy.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide safe, competent nursing care to adult medical-surgical and telemetry patients, including a small volume of pediatrics (rare, 1–5 per year).
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments, administer medications, and monitor patient status according to unit protocols.
• Interpret and document telemetry rhythms; utilize Alaris IV pumps for medication delivery.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams—hospitalists, therapy, respiratory, pharmacy—to coordinate optimal care.
• Support patients with a wide range of diagnoses including post-surgical care, diabetes, hypertension, heart failure, weakness, and oncology-related conditions.
• Maintain accurate EMR documentation using Epic.
• Adhere to infection control and safety standards, including compliance with the facility’s no-artificial-nails policy.
• Float to other units as needed (6E, Acute Rehab, Geriatric Psych), within scope of practice.
• Work every other weekend and participate in self-scheduling with manager oversight.

Qualifications

• Active RN license (any state acceptable unless restricted by the facility; must meet 50-mile radius rule).
• Minimum 1 year recent experience in Medical-Surgical and/or Telemetry.
• Certifications required: BLS (AHA).
• Must successfully pass the required pass/fail clinical skills exam (90% minimum) during orientation.
• Ability to interpret cardiac rhythms and manage telemetry patients.
• Strong clinical assessment skills and experience with common Med-Surg conditions.
• EMR proficiency; Epic experience required.
• Must have a valid driver’s license for mileage verification (must reside >50 miles from facility).
• Must not have been employed in any capacity at CHI, Dignity, or any CommonSpirit facility within the past year.
• Positive attitude, strong teamwork mindset, and ability to work with diverse patient populations (including African American and Korean-speaking communities).
• Proof of COVID-19 vaccination and recent tuberculosis test required.
