General Description / Primary Purpose:
The Instructional Specialist, under the direction of the Assistant Director or above, assists in the design, development and implementation of departmental processes and/or programs.
Job Functions:
• Responsible for developing, planning, and conducting specialized training programs related to Drug Enforcement, Gang Investigation, and Tactical Operations.
• Provide day to day administrative oversight to include coordinating responsibilities of recruiting, assigning, and supervising full and part time instructors working in the Drug/Gang/Tactical Unit.
• Attend related conferences both as a speaker and an exhibitor. Attend local, regional, state, and national functions.
• Collaborate with each sub-section of the Unit (Drug Enforcement, Gang Investigation, Tactical Operations and other Specialty programs) to ensure materials and instructors are up to date.
• Coordinate with IPTM staff to maintain the unit schedule; to include staffing instructors and contacting host agencies to promote courses.
• Responsible for maintaining current host locations and expanding host locations in areas of the country where IPTM does not have a presence.
• Assist the IPTM Marketing Coordinator to design and implement promotional materials related to Drug, Gang and Tactical courses.
• Develop and recruit new instructors, keep curriculums up to date, and develop new curriculums when the need arises.
Marginal Functions:
· Represent IPTM at meetings, trade shows, conferences, and other functions as needed. Keep up to date on the latest trends, techniques and related technology in the unit. Coordinate assignments with adjuncts and staff.
Required Qualifications
Master's or Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219.
