Position Type: Instructional Coach
Job Responsibilities
The Instructional Coach partners with general education and special education teachers, administrators, and student services personnel across preschool through 8th grade to strengthen instructional practice and improve student outcomes. The role is centered on building trust, fostering collaboration, and supporting inclusive teaching that meets the needs of all learners.
The coach provides leadership in designing and implementing academic and behavioral interventions, specially designed instruction in inclusive environments, and data-informed planning for students with diverse and comprehensive needs. This includes coaching educators on both instructional and behavioral practices that promote student engagement, access, and success.
Essential Job Functions
Coaching & Collaboration
Build strong, trust-based relationships with educators to support professional growth.
Provide individualized and group coaching through co-planning, co-teaching, modeling, and reflective feedback.
Partner with teachers to integrate inclusive practices, differentiation, and student skills such as social-emotional learning (SEL) and executive functioning (EF).
Student Supports
Assist teams in planning and implementing academic, behavioral, social-emotional and executive functioning interventions.
Support the design and delivery of specially designed instruction within inclusive classrooms for students with Individualized Educational Plans.
Facilitate student-centered meetings to promote collaboration, problem-solving, and coordinated supports.
Provide coaching on classroom management, proactive behavioral strategies, and integration of SEL and EF practices.
Guide staff in developing and monitoring individual behavior support plans when needed.
Data & Assessment
Support educators in collecting and analyzing academic and behavioral data to inform instruction and intervention planning.
Guide teams in setting learning and behavior goals, monitoring progress, and adjusting strategies based on student response.
Collaborate with school leaders to align coaching and intervention work with school improvement and professional development plans.
Leadership & Teaming
Partner with general and special educators, administrators, and related-service providers to ensure cohesive support systems across preschool–8th grade.
Contribute to a culture of shared responsibility and continuous improvement.
Provide professional development aligned with district goals.
Commitment to Continuous Learning
Stay current on research-based best practices in instruction, social-emotional learning, executive functioning development, and behavior support, modeling lifelong learning for staff.
Participate in job-alike groups and professional learning communities outside of the district to bring new ideas and perspectives back to the team.
Qualifications
Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with appropriate teaching endorsement.
Experience in instructional coaching, adult learning, or professional development facilitation.
Leadership experience preferred
Strong knowledge of inclusive instructional practices, academic and behavioral interventions, classroom management, and SEL/EF.

Commensurate with the current agreement between the District and the Kenilworth Educators Association.
