Summary Description:
The Zamboni’s Driver is an essential member of the facilities team at BB&N. The Zamboni Driver plays an essential part in creating a safe, welcoming, and well-maintained environment for students, faculty, and visitors. They will primarily be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the ice resurfacing machine and the general maintenance of BB&N’s ice rink. This position ensures that the ice surface is maintained to high standards for practices, games, and other events. The role includes routine facility upkeep, minor equipment maintenance, and close collaboration with athletics staff and coaches to coordinate ice schedules and needs. This position requires regular attendance at the school’s athletic facility and flexibility for evening and weekend hours during the hockey season.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
Operate the Zamboni and related ice maintenance equipment to resurface and maintain the ice surface for optimal performance and safety.
Inspect, clean, and perform routine maintenance on the Zamboni, including checking fluid levels, blades, and mechanical systems.
Monitor and maintain proper ice temperature, thickness, and quality by adjusting arena systems as needed.
Maintain cleanliness and safety in the rink area, locker rooms, and surrounding spaces.
Perform minor facility repairs and report maintenance concerns promptly to the Director of Facilities.
Ensure compliance with all safety protocols related to equipment operation, ice maintenance, and facility access.
Provide support during school athletic events, including setup and breakdown of rink-related equipment.
Maintain accurate records of ice maintenance activities, equipment servicing, and facility logs.
Other responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements, Skills, and Competencies:
At least 2 years of experience operating a Zamboni or similar ice resurfacing equipment preferred.
Basic knowledge of mechanical systems, refrigeration, and facility operations preferred.
Valid driver’s license required.
Availability for evening, weekend, and occasional holiday shifts as dictated by the athletic schedule.
This is an in-person position that requires regular attendance on campus and in the BB&N rink.
Dependability and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Organizational and time management skills.
Ability to frequently lift equipment and materials up to 25 pounds; occasional lifting up to pounds.

Salary: $25.00 hourly
Hours: 10 -15 hours per week
