The Opportunity

In an increasingly competitive marketplace, our Marketing, Communications, and Business Development (MCBD) team enables Arup to build and protect our reputation, deepen client relationships, win quality work, and attract top talent. This role will be key in achieving our strategic market and client ambitions. We are seeking to appoint a Winning Work Marketing Sr. Specialist [West Canada / Vancouver & Calgary] to join our MCBD function.

What this role involves

The Winning Work Sr. Marketing Specialist oversees the pursuit and bid support needs. The pursuits and bids team provides professional support for Arup’s work winning activities in the development and management of pursuits and bids. It is part of the MCBD team within the North Geography.

The Sr. Marketing Specialist will be responsible for coordinating and inputting to pursuits, developing bids with proposal teams, and supporting other client-specific local BD related activities. The work requires a strong understanding of the Arup value proposition and our services, the industry and markets in which we work, and the clients and collaborators we work with and our people delivering the work.

Key responsibilities

  • Oversee and/or lead the preparation of competitive proposals, qualification packages, and interview presentations delivered by the wider teams in Western Canada.
  • Guide prepositioning and oversee bidding for major pursuits locally.
  • Oversee and/or facilitates capture planning strategy sessions and assist in client and market focused research activities.
  • Work with our technical leaders, guide the development of client-focused win strategies for proposals and statements of qualification to successfully capture work.
  • Guide the development and execution of go/no-go decision-making.
  • Oversee pre-interview planning and presentation rehearsal, and help develop and apply established win strategy, themes, and discriminators in presentation materials.
  • Oversee the management and maintenance of collateral, provide feedback, and actively engage in improving our marketing content, including project sheets, resumes, and other collateral.
  • Develop new marketing content such as presentations, brochures, and project examples to support Western Canada.
  • Work with our Americas marketing team to bring the best of our global experience to our local clients.
  • Captures project win nuggets to share internally and in collaboration with the broader MCBD team promote new project wins internally and externally, as appropriate.
  • Maintain consistent quality, corporate identity, and graphic standards.
  • Support the Head of Geography Marketing to ensure the geography team data is aligned with Client Systems processes.
  • Responsible for ensuring Western Canada data quality meets global and regional standards.

Is this role right for you?

  • Degree, postgraduate qualification in Marketing, Communications, Business Development or other relevant qualification.
  • Certification with APMP desirable.
  • 5 or more years’ experience working in pursuits and bids in the AEC industry or similar.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing complex pursuits and bids. 
  • Experience of prepositioning and bidding lifecycle and bid delivery in Western Canada.
  • Knowledge of current AEC bidding trends and procurement methods.
  • Working with the technical staff and marketing team to ensure proposal process is followed, and to ensure quality and consistency in all proposal/qualifications documents.
  • Conducting and tracking activities related to project pursuits in CRM pipeline management tools.
  • Be a valuable member of the firms’ professional team by maintaining and enhancing the culture and core values of Arup.

Vancouver Hiring Range – The good faith base salary hiring range for this job if performed in Vancouver is 100,000 to 115,000 per year. This range is commensurate with experience, educational background, and skill level. Benefits are not included in the base salary. Please note hiring ranges for candidates performing work outside of Vancouver will differ.
