- Assists with paracentesis, thoracentesis, pleural drains, pigtail placements, and other minor procedures by handing instruments and collection devices to the MD or PA.
- Sets up the procedure room with all necessary accessories for assigned procedures.
- Tests ultrasound equipment before procedures and reports any malfunctioning equipment to the supervisor.
- Collects fluid samples and specimens during drainage procedures and transports them to the lab promptly.
- Delivers specimens to pathology or microbiology and obtains required signatures in the specimen log.
- Ensures patient privacy and maintains a safe, comfortable environment.
- Follows universal protocol by verifying patients using name and date of birth.
- Preps patients appropriately to reduce infection risk and maintains sterile technique throughout the procedure.
- Cleans ultrasound equipment using proper technique before each procedure.
- Monitors patients during drainage procedures and notifies the PA/MD when the process is complete.
- Manipulates yueh catheters and removes pleural catheters independently.
- Completes charge sheets and delivers them to the appropriate location to ensure timely billing.
- Restocks the procedure cart with necessary supplies daily.
- Safely transports patients, equipment, and supplies to designated procedure areas.
- Maintains bi-annual CNA license requirements and competencies for the PCT role; performs PCT duties as needed.
Qualifications:
· State of Florida Nursing Assistant Certification required
· BLS Certification Required
· 1 year of experience preferred
· High School Diploma preferred
