Oregon State Hospital (OSH), a division of the Oregon Health Authority, is seeking Supervising Psychiatrists who value comprehensive mental health treatment and supporting people in their return to successful community living. OSH is a Joint Commission-accredited and CMS-certified public psychiatric hospital with campuses in Salem and Junction City, Oregon. We provide psychiatric and residential treatment services for individuals committed by Oregon courts as part of the state mental health system. Our mission is to help people recover from mental illness and return to their communities. Duties & Responsibilities 

As a Supervising Psychiatrist, you will: 

  • Lead, supervise, and coordinate the work of psychiatrists and psychiatric nurse practitioners.

  • Provide clinical supervision, assign work, and ensure staff are aligned with hospital goals and practices.

  • Collaborate with the program executive team and clinical leadership to ensure effective and efficient treatment processes.

  • Participate in administrative decision-making, program planning, and implementation of hospital goals.

  • Provide direct psychiatric care, including assessments, consultations on complex cases, and coverage as needed.

  • Conduct ongoing patient case reviews, with special attention to individuals facing significant treatment or discharge barriers.

  • Ensure compliance with federal and state laws, Joint Commission and CMS standards, OSH policies, and professional standards of practice.

  • Serve as a leader in promoting evidence-based care, collaborative problem solving, and patient-centered treatment approaches  

   

What We Are Looking For  

Minimum Qualifications:

You must possess, or have the ability to obtain:  

  • Board certification or board eligibility at the time of appointment.  

  • Physician's license issued by the Oregon Board of Medical Examiners at the time of appointment and maintain the licensure throughout employment.  

  • 3 years minimum experience in an inpatient or outpatient setting.

  • The salary listed is the non-PERS qualifying salary range. If the successful candidate is PERS qualifying, the salary range will reflect the additional 6.95%. Review the Classification and Compensation page for more details on the classification.
