About the opportunity

The Social and Behavioural Insights in Immunisation Research Group (SABII) - is part of the School of Public Health and Sydney Institute for Infectious Diseases (Sydney ID). SABII’s goal is to build knowledge and capacity in social and behavioural science to strengthen vaccinations programs around the world and its home Faculty is the Faculty of Medicine and Health.

We are seeking a Senior Research Fellow and information specialist to support the SABII research group. This is an opportunity to contribute to a program of research that informs immunisation policy and practice through evidence-based insights. You will work closely with a collaborative team of experts and contribute to expanding the group’s capacity in systematic reviews, social research, and public health strategy.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • make independent, original and innovative contributions to research which have a significant impact on your field of expertise

  • maintain a research profile which meets University expectations and enhances the reputation of the School/Faculty/University

  • contribute to academic or professional journals and deliver keynote addresses relevant to your discipline

  • lead successful competitive research grants and/or generate other research income through diverse funding opportunities

  • establish collaborations and partnerships with colleagues, universities and industry experts

  • contribute to systematic reviews and social science research, particularly in areas such as infectious diseases, vaccine hesitancy and immunisation information needs

  • apply qualitative research methods to inform public health strategies and policy development

  • collaborate with an established team of researchers, including ongoing work with NCIRS and WHO

  • contribute to the expansion of the team’s research capacity and outputs through mentoring and joint publications.

About you

  • holds postgraduate qualifications in Social Science, Information Management and Evidence-Based Practice (Medicine)

  • demonstrated highly specialised knowledge, experience and research skills that align with the SABII program’s strategic direction

  • experienced social scientist and information specialist with extensive experience in immunisation policy, relevant research methods, high-level literature searching and evidence-based practice

  • track record in expanding knowledge within the discipline at a national level

  • has an established network of relationships (national and international) with academic, industry and professional institutions that enhance the standing of the discipline and University

  • demonstrated excellence in research and scholarly activities relevant to the discipline

  • significant experience in supervising others and coordinating literature searches

You must have unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this employment to be eligible to apply. Visa sponsorship is not available for this appointment.
