Tanner Clinic has an immediate opening for a Lab Training Coordinator.


Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensures laboratory compliance with CLIA regulations.
  • Conducts laboratory training for specimen processing, including LIS and EHR for all new Lab employees. 
  • Assists Lab POC Coordinator with competency assessments.
  • Assists Lab POC Coordinator with oversight of point of care testing (POC) including, but not limited to, working directly with medical assistants and clinical supervisors to ensure quality test results, training and competency assessments, supply inventory and ordering, maintenance, troubleshooting, etc. 
  • Assists with error monitoring to determine where personnel may need additional training and to identify opportunities for process improvement. Conducts retraining as needed.
  • Monitor Lab Billing emails and Unbilled Issues Tracker. Assists with the investigation, corrections, and retraining as needed.
  • Assists Laboratory Manager, Laboratory Supervisors, Lab POC Coordinator, and Lab QA Coordinator(s) with various managerial tasks as needed

Requirements

Education:

High school diploma or equivalent. 

Courses required to certify as a Medical Lab Assistant (MLA). This course and certification must be completed within 1 year of hire date.

Experience:

1-2 years of lab experience preferred.

Performance Requirements:

Knowledge:

Knowledge of general lab terminology related to specimens and sample processing.

Knowledge of specimen requirements for basic laboratory tests.

Skills:

Skill in operating standard lab processing equipment.

Skill in using computers.

Abilities:

Ability to work independently as well as part of a team. 

Ability to operate basic computer and lab equipment.

Equipment Operated:

Standard laboratory processing equipment including centrifuges, and computers.

Work Environment:

Laboratory environment, well lighted and temperature controlled. Exposure to communicable diseases, biohazards, and other conditions common in clinical laboratory environment.

Mental/Physical Requirements:

Varied activities including sitting, standing, walking, bending, lifting, and reaching. Frequent standing and working for extended periods of time. 

Periodic need to lift and carry items weighing up to 20 pounds. 

Some stress related to ensuring accuracy and safety of operation.

Visual acuity to review and enter data on a computer screen.

Manual dexterity to operate standard office equipment.

Other Requirements:

Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of the job

Ability to work independently and manage tasks with minimal supervision.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.
