About the Department

Reporting directly to the Special Operations Chain of Command, responsible for the development of the victim assistance program for Williamson County Sheriff’s Office. 

Position Duties

  • Assists in directing the victim assistance program, services, and employees
  • Performs grant writing to secure and maintain grant funds
  • Conducts budget coordination for department and collaborate with other departments on available resources
  • Develops and implements victim assistance trainings for staff, law enforcement and volunteers
  • Performs weekly case reviews for victims of violent crimes
  • Reviews reports submitted by veteran affair case workers for accuracy and initiates and plans action if necessary
  • Serves as liaison for law enforcement agencies on casework and victim updates
  • Conducts and schedules monthly trainings for volunteers, victim assistance staff, cadets, and deputies on programs and guidelines
  • Completes and assists victims with required paperwork 
  • Processes victim resource referrals and crime victim compensation applications
  • Collaborates with community partners and agencies for event planning and resources
  • Creates and updates programs policies and procedures
  • Schedules victim appointments to access needs and follow-ups
  • Collaborates with community services and mental health professionals on victim assistance programs
  • Attends meetings and trainings as necessary
  • Performs special duties as assigned

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Position involves prolonged sitting at a workstation, visual examination of documents, reaching, walking, twisting, bending, standing and occasional lifting/carrying


ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS

  • Work is primarily indoors in an air-conditioned environment
  • Regular travel between work sites as required


IRREGULAR HOURS

  • Work outside of the normal office hours (Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.) may be required
  • May be deemed as essential personnel in the event of an emergency
  • Regular attendance is required

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Criminal Justice, Behavioral Health, or related field.
  • Two (2) years of experience working with crime victims
  • One (1) year of experience working in a social work capacity 
  • Two (2) years of director or supervisory experience
  • Three (3) years of case management experience


LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS

Required within thirty (30) days of employment

  • Valid Texas driver’s license
  • Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) 100, 200 and 700 Certification
  • Criminal Justice Information Systems User Certification (CJIS)


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, behavioral health, or related field
  • Two (2) years of social work or related experience
  • Three (3) years of director or supervisory experience
  • Four (4) years of case management experience
  • Bilingual (Spanish)
