Ellwood Aluminum is expanding.  We are moving to a 24/7 operation and hiring hard working individuals! As a family-owned Company, we hire, pay and promote based on performance/experience.  For individuals with heavy manufacturing experience our wages can start up to $24.00/hr. We also have a night differential that is $2.00/hr on top of the regularly hourly wage.  If you have no or little experience but want a career in one of the fastest growing Companies in the area, our starting wage is $17.50/hr (also with an opportunity for the $2.00/hr night shift differential).

Casting Operator:

The Aluminum Production Casting Operator performs tasks related to the casting of aluminum such as preparing the casting area for production, beginning and maintaining the cast, collecting samples, and aiding other departments as needed.  This role requires you to be comfortable working with hot metal.

Shifts:

Most of our shifts are continental. These are 12-hour shifts, steady days OR steady nights:

2 days on, 2 days off, 3 days onTHEN 2 days off 2 days on, 3 days off, and the rotation starts again.

It is a perfect shift for individuals who want work life balance.  You work approximately 17 days a month and get two - 3 DAY weekends off in every rotation.  Your schedule does not change, unless you move to another shift or department.

Minimum Requirements and Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED from an accredited institution -or be working toward this
  • Employee must be legally authorized to work in the United States.  Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire, Visa sponsorship is not available for this position
  • Must pass minimal physical test and background screening
  • Candidates must be able to work any shift (will need to specify what the shifts are)
  • Physical effort required by the job includes standing, stooping, pulling, pushing, climbing and lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Willingness to cross train

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to identify problems, inform others, and assist in the solving of such problems
  • Judgment and decision-making abilities to prevent errors, scrap parts, safety hazards, or other poor results pertaining to job duties.
  • Ability to read and interpret work documents such as operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, quality instructions, and other related documents.
  • Ability to work with others as a team
