Lab Technician Supervisor
The Lab Technician Supervisor will be responsible for leading the Lab Technician (Lab) Team and assisting the clinical research staff in conducting clinical research trials.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Completing DMCR-required training, including GCP and IATA.
- Maintaining a working knowledge of current FDA regulations, GCP/ICH guidelines, organizational SOPs, guidance documents, and study protocols.
- Prepare, process, and ship laboratory samples to outside laboratories following IATA regulations.
- Accomplishes department objectives by supervising staff and organizing and monitoring work processes.
- Maintains staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees and developing personal growth opportunities.
- Accomplishes staff job results by coaching, training and counseling.
- Plans, monitors, and appraises job results with guidance of the department manager.
- Conducts New Employee and Ongoing Training.
- Implements and enforces systems, policies, and procedures.
- Maintains safe and healthy work environment by establishing and enforcing organization standards and adhering to legal regulations.
- Completes operations by developing schedules, assigning and monitoring work, gathering resources, implementing productivity standards, resolving operations problems, maintaining reference manuals, and implementing new procedures.
- Controls expenses by gathering and submitting budget information, scheduling expenditures, monitoring variances, and implementing corrective actions.
- Conducts venipuncture and phlebotomy on study subjects.
- Provides quality service by enforcing quality and customer service standards.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed
- Verifies subject by reading subject identification.
- Maintains specimen integrity by using an aseptic technique, following protocol procedures; observing protocol specific procedures.
- Tracks collected specimens by initialing, dating, and noting times of collection; maintaining daily tallies of collections performed as applicable
- Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
- Enhances laboratory department by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
- Monitor inventory of laboratory supplies and laboratory kits and order as needed.
- Organize laboratory layout and facilitate laboratory operations.
- Conduct clinical studies according to FDA regulations and guidelines.
- Protect the safety and welfare of the study subjects by ensuring that the study is conducted properly and in compliance with ICH/GCP and Optimal Research Standing Operating Procedures.
- Knowledgeable of the Sponsor’s protocol so that all study activities are completed correct
- Any other matters as assigned by management.
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
Experience:
- 2-3 years of Lab Technician Experience
- Team Leadership experience
- Phlebotomy experience
Credentials:
- Phlebotomy certification preferred
Knowledge and Skills:
- Basic laboratory management
- Meticulous attention to details and deadlines.
- Knowledge of basic use of scientific methods, procedures, and techniques
- Good communication skills are required, both written and verbal
