Position overview: The School Psychologist Intern will provide support to the Milford School District under the supervision of a licensed School Psychologist for the duration of the internship. Applicants must be enrolled in a NASP-accredited School Psychology graduate program and meet internship eligibility requirements, including coursework and initial experience in psychological and educational testing. The ideal candidate will be familiar with state and federal special education regulations, possess strong interpersonal skills, and either hold or be eligible for a Professional Permit through the state of Delaware. This internship offers hands-on experience in psychological assessment, intervention, and consultation, providing an opportunity to apply academic training in a school setting while supporting the diverse educational and emotional needs of students.
Qualifications:
Applicants must be enrolled in a NASP accredited School Psychology graduate program and meet the requirements to begin an internship.
Coursework and beginning experience in psychological and educational testing
Familiar with state and federal special education regulations
Possess strong interpersonal skills
Posses or be eligible for a Professional Permit through the state of Delaware
Performance Responsibilities:
Perform psychological services for Milford School District under the direction of a School Psychologist.
Administer and interpret psychological evaluations.
Complete written evaluation reports, progress notes and letters.
Review assessment information from providers to determine eservice options to meet the needs of students.
Review students’ cumulative records.
Review referrals for testing, determine additional information needed
Conduct classroom observations.
Consultant to, and/or designer of, programs to meet the needs of students with diverse educational and emotional characteristics.
Consult with school personnel and family members.
Conduct individual and group therapy.
Participate in IEP meetings.
Maintain student records and protect their confidentiality.
Essential Employment Condition: By accepting employment as a 12-month internship employee with the Milford School District, you acknowledge and understand that:
A primary responsibility during the summer months (June–August) is to support district-run summer programming for special education students, Extended School Year (ESY), and/or other specialized instructional or support services.
The inclusion of summer duties as part of the 12-month contract is to support district summer programming.
12-month employees are expected to work the entire calendar year, satisfying the required workdays as other 12-month employees. 12-month professional employees follow the same holiday schedule and accrue leave as other 12-month employees.
Examples of Summer Duties May Include:
Support with assessments, related services, or behavioral needs of special education students during summer months.
Assisting with ESY program setup, progress monitoring, or closure tasks under the supervision of the Psychologist.
Supporting data collection, compliance documentation, or student transitions between school years.
Participating in professional learning activities connected to program implementation.
Service as an IEP Team Member for meetings scheduled during the summer months, as needed.
Support evaluations and summary reports, with supervision, for students, as needed during the summer.
Terms of Employment: Twelve-month (12) full-time employee for the duration of the internship.
Salary and benefits: Salary range and benefits are commensurate with qualifications and experience in accordance with Board of Education Policy for 12 month staff.
