Position Title: Assistant Professor - Psychology
Job Type: Tenure-Track

Compensation: $59,222; 9-month contract paid over 12 months, benefits eligible

General Description: 

The Department of Psychology at Saint Martin’s University (Lacey, WA) invites applications for two (2) full-time, tenure-track positions at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning August 2026. The department has needs in two areas:

Clinical or Counseling Psychologist with an interest in teaching courses focused on psychopathology, interviewing/assessment, and treatment. Candidate should contribute course offerings in their specialty, supervise senior internships, and be able to cover additional courses as needed within the department. Candidate should also be willing to teach classes in the university’s Core Curriculum as needed. 

Or

Open area psychologist with an interest in teaching a range of classes, including research methods and capstone. Preference given to those with expertise in cognitive psychology or neuropsychology. Candidates should be able to contribute course offerings in their specialty and be able to cover additional courses as needed within the department. Candidate should also be willing to teach classes in the university’s Core Curriculum as needed.

The successful candidate will have a teaching load of 24 semester credit hours per year, with a reduced load in the first and fourth years.

Requirements:

  • A Ph.D. in Psychology (ABD will be considered for Assistant Professor rank, but must be completed by the start date)
  • Candidates should be passionate about teaching and mentoring undergraduates in a liberal arts setting and should have experience integrating a variety of research-based equitable teaching practices across the curriculum.
  • Ability to teach a range of undergraduate courses in Psychology including both general/foundational and topical areas (e.g., cultural, experimental, and/or clinical/counseling competencies).
  • Provide academic advising and mentorship to students.
  • Participate in departmental and university-wide service, including contributing to curriculum development and assessment.
  • Contribute to the University’s Core Curriculum and occasionally teach in the First Year Seminar program.
  • Continue professional development through attending conferences, webinars, trainings, and various workshops
  • Provide valid documentation permitting work in the US from the start date of the appointment.
  • Support the Catholic, Benedictine liberal arts mission of the university.
