A Day in the Life
Medtronic is hiring a Maintenance Engineer responsible for ensuring that all machinery, equipment, and facilities operate efficiently, safely, and reliably. In this role, you will plan and execute maintenance activities aimed at minimizing downtime, enhancing equipment performance, and extending asset life.You will also serve as a mentor to colleagues, providing technical guidance and support, and may lead the work of junior professionals. Additionally, you will take ownership of maintenance-related projects and initiatives, driving continuous improvement and operational excellence across the facility.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:
- Lead the installation, modification, upgrade, and maintenance of manufacturing equipment to maximize reliability and operational uptime. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of equipment manufacturers’ technical notices, upgrades, safety information, and reliability data.
- Monitor and analyze equipment performance using data-driven methods to identify trends, root causes, and improvement opportunities. Develop and implement Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) programs to increase uptime, reduce unplanned downtime, and resolve chronic equipment issues impacting production.
- Establish and deploy standardized troubleshooting methodologies to reduce mean time to repair (MTTR) and enhance response effectiveness.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement in equipment reliability and process efficiency. Provide technical expertise and support to maintenance technicians and process engineering teams as a subject matter expert (SME) in equipment reliability.
- Define, document, and optimize preventive and predictive maintenance schedules based on reliability data and industry best practices. Lead and participate in Equipment Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (eFMEA), Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and corrective action processes for equipment-related incidents.
- Track, analyze, and report key performance indicators (KPIs) related to equipment reliability and maintenance effectiveness. Support equipment selection and evaluation processes to ensure optimal reliability, performance, and cost efficiency for manufacturing operations.
Required knowledge and experience
- Engineering background and education
- At least 2 years of experience in maintenance engineering tied to mechanical automation
- Manufacturing production experience within the Medtech, automotive or chemical domain
- Fluency in French and English
- Independent mindset and capability to work under pressure by meeting deadlines
- Excellent communication skills aimed at coordination and reporting, along with excellent organizational skills
