About TC Transcontinental RBW Graphics:
This position is based at the TC Transcontinental RBW Graphics plant in Owen Sound, Ontario, which has been in operation for over 171 years. With over 400 employees, it is the largest commercial printing plant of magazines, flyers, catalogues, and directories in Canada. Owen Sound is a smaller city filled with cultural, outdoor, and recreational activities.
Industrial Millwright Apprentice
Status: Full Time
Schedule: Days (Monday-Thursday 7:00am-3:30pm, Friday 7am-3pm)
Reports To: Maintenance Manager
We are currently seeking an Industrial Millwright Apprentice. This position offers hands-on experience supporting the installation, maintenance, and repair of industrial machinery and equipment. The role involves assisting with troubleshooting, performing basic mechanical tasks, and learning precision techniques under the guidance of experienced millwrights. This is an excellent opportunity to develop technical skills and gain practical knowledge in a dynamic industrial environment.
Responsibilities:When your actions lead to success:
- Assist journeyman millwrights in the installation, maintenance, and repair of industrial machinery and mechanical systems.
- Support alignment, assembly, and disassembly of equipment such as pumps, conveyors, motors, and gearboxes.
- Perform basic mechanical tasks including lubrication, cleaning, and part replacement under supervision.
- Help troubleshoot mechanical issues and identify potential equipment failures.
- Operate hand tools and power tools safely and maintain them in good working condition.
- Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Learn and apply technical skills related to precision measurements, rigging, and equipment alignment.
- Document work performed and report any irregularities to senior staff.
- Participate in training sessions and on-the-job learning to develop millwright competencies.
- Collaborate with other trades to complete maintenance and installation projects.
When your expertise drives us:
- High school diploma or equivalent (completion of relevant technical courses is an asset).
- Enrollment in or eligibility for an Industrial Millwright Apprenticeship program.
- Basic understanding of mechanical systems, tools, and safety practices.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manuals (training provided as needed).
- Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn new techniques.
- Physical ability to perform manual labour, including lifting, climbing, and working in various environments.
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team setting.
- Commitment to following safety standards and company procedures.
- Demonstrates a positive attitude, reliability, and a strong work ethic.
