SUMMARY:

The Front Counter Receptionist provides exceptional front counter service, maintains technical records, and supports daily operational workflows. This role combines customer-facing duties with administrative and record-keeping responsibilities.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following and other duties as may be assigned by management.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for members and visitors at the front counter.
  • Open and close the front counter, manage cash drawers and keys, and operate payment systems (iVUE, cash register, credit card machine).
  •  Accurately process payments (cash, check, credit card), enter drop box transactions, and balance drawers throughout the day.
  •  Run daily financial reports and ensure all transactions are properly documented.
  • Maintain security of cash, drawers, keys, and sensitive documents.
  • Greet members and visitors professionally, providing prompt and courteous assistance.
  • Respond to inquiries regarding accounts, payments, and services, both in person and over the phone.
  •  Schedule appointments, direct calls, and route member requests to appropriate staff.
  • Provide non-technical information and support, ensuring a positive member experience.
  • Follow all documented SOPs for front counter procedures, financial transactions, and recordkeeping.
  •  Manage petty cash, energy drafts, and collection payments according to established guidelines.

 

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.



QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Associate’s degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school or equivalent combination of education and experience.



LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routines reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively to customers or employees of organization. 



MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.



REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations.



CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Valid Michigan Driver’s License.
