The Office of Graduate and Online Bachelor's Admissions exists to guide, connect and empower prospective students in reaching their God given potential with regard to their educational goals. Graduate and Online Bachelor's Admissions is committed to upholding the values of healthy communication, collaboration and teamwork, strategic vision and creativity, and courage and risk taking.
The Graduate and Online Bachelor's Admissions Counselor (hereafter referred to as Admissions Counselor) supports the university’s annual enrollment goals through strategic recruitment and support of prospective students. They will actively recruit and counsel prospective graduate and online bachelor's students by facilitating the application and matriculation of well-matched prospects into graduate and online bachelor's programs. The Admissions Counselor focuses on proactive and personalized student-centered service and offers knowledgeable and effective service for all online bachelor's and graduate programs at Biola University. They serve as the primary point of contact for prospective students.
The person who fills this position must be someone who personally agrees with Biola’s Articles of Faith and Statement of Biblical Principles and who is supportive of the positions taken by Biola as contained in its Eschatology Teaching Position. As such, this person may not speak against or act in a manner inconsistent with these positions during the course of their employment at Biola.

Educational Requirements
Bachelor’s degree required from a four-year college or university.
-Non-exempt (02), full-time – 40 hours/week, 12 months per year.
-This position requires personal attendance at Biola’s campus in La Mirada, California, but will consider a limited hybrid/flexible work arrangement.
The position’s major tasks and responsibilities are as follows:
-Effectively engage with prospects and applicants about the graduate and online bachelor's programs, admissions processes and financial aid opportunities.
-Communicate with applicants through in-person and online appointments, phone calls, emails, and text messages.
Application Processing and Decisions
-Data Entry: Accurate and efficient input of data in database.
-Maintain and review applications within an assigned territory.
-Make admissions decisions based on established criteria of appropriate committees.
-Assist and manage other territories as needed.
-Serve as an expert in particular programs and schools as assigned and become proficient in representing all graduate and online bachelor's programs offered at Biola.
-Establish and maintain professional relationships with graduate school deans, program directors and program coordinators as determined by territory structure and partnership.
-Calendar Management: Scheduling and handling appointments, meetings, and events.
-Coordinate and execute outreach activities and off-campus recruitment to support graduate and online bachelor's enrollment goals.
-Participate in on-campus, off-campus and online recruiting events, some of which may be during weekends or after-hours.
-Utilize Customer Relations Management (CRM) systems to communicate with prospects and applicants.
-Process applications and record data and admission decisions.
Through training and experience on the job, Admissions Counselors are expected to develop competencies. Competencies are the knowledge, skills and abilities needed to be successful on the job.
-Demonstrate a strong working knowledge of Biola history, academic programs, faculty, student services, student experience, and commitment to diversity.
-Demonstrate competency in federal and institutional financial aid offerings and policies.
-Demonstrate the ability to develop rapport with prospective students through effective discovery questions and listening skills.
-Show an ability to effectively articulate benefits and differentiators of Biola (as a Christian school) and build value with concise, clear and compelling messaging.
-Practice cultural humility and sensitivity in all communication and engagement with prospects, applicants, students and colleagues.
-Create a welcoming environment for students of all ethnicities, Christian traditions and socioeconomic backgrounds.
-Practice servant leadership in support of the entire Graduate and Online Bachelor's Admissions team, while navigating change and adversity with optimism, positivity and adaptability.
-Embrace Biola’s mission, vision and values on a consistent basis.
-Consistently demonstrate organizational skills including time-management, multitasking, punctuality and appropriate preparation.
-Practice confidentiality, integrity, respect and grace.
-Possess a strong understanding and use of technology in recruiting and territory management.
-Be proficient in utilizing Biola’s CRM for efficiently recording important student information and personalizing contact with students.-Google Workspace Proficiency: Familiarity with Google products including Gmail, Google Calendar, Docs, Sheets and Slides, Google Drive and Google Meet.
Hiring Range: $23.38 - 26.48 per hour
