Job Summary

Reporting directly to the President, the Vice President of Student Affairs (VPSA) provides strategic leadership, vision, and oversight for a comprehensive portfolio of student-focused programs and services.

The VPSA serves as a visible and engaged leader on campus, championing initiatives that enhance student leadership, engagement, and retention, including nearly 120 registered student organizations, fraternity and sorority life, and experiential learning opportunities. In this role, the VPSA guides divisional planning, assessment, and policy development, leads crisis response efforts, and represents the Division of Student Affairs in key institutional initiatives and inclusive student programming. This position plays a critical role in shaping the student experience and advancing the University's mission of fostering a vibrant, supportive, and inclusive campus community.

Authority and Accountability
The Vice President of Student Affairs reports directly to the President and oversees six direct reports across a range of student-focused services, including Housing and Residence Life, the Counseling Center, Student Health Services, Career Services, the Center for Student Involvement and Leadership (CSIL), the Office of Student Accountability and Community Standards, the Guerrieri Student Union, and TRIO Student Support Services. Five of these positions are at the Director level, providing leadership across key functional areas within the division. The VPSA is also responsible for all financial operations within the Division of Student Affairs, ensuring effective budget management, resource allocation, and fiscal accountability across all programs and services.

Required/Minimum Qualifications

  • A master's degree in higher education, Student Affairs, or a related field.
  • Ten years of progressively responsible leadership experience in Student Affairs or a closely related area, with three years in a senior leadership or cabinet-level role.
  • Demonstrated success in strategic planning, budget management, personnel supervision, and assessment of student-centered programs and services.
  • Proven experience navigating and responding to complex student issues, crises, and campus climate matters with sensitivity, clarity, and professionalism. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • An earned doctorate in higher education, Student Affairs, or a related field.
  • A deep understanding of trends, challenges, and opportunities in higher education and student development, particularly in public regional comprehensive universities.
  • A strong record of cross-divisional collaboration and partnership across diverse institutional areas.
  • Demonstrated ability to advocate for students and Student Affairs at the executive level and to communicate effectively with a broad range of stakeholders, including students, families, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members.
