QTEC Aerospace is seeking multiple SYSTEMS INTERFACE ENGINEERS to join our team of professionals in Huntsville, AL. Job Summary
QTEC Aerospace is looking for highly capable and motivated individuals. The successful candidates will function as an integral member of a multi-contractor team providing program, engineering, and technical support to Missile Defense programs. The selected Engineers will lead the development and design of Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and Interface Design Documents (IDDs), including establishing new interfaces between external elements, sensors, and other Command and Control Systems.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to the following:
- Develop, update, and maintain multiple ICDs and IDDs
- Ensure the ICDs and IDDs created are to the appropriate standards required of the program
- Develop various behavioral diagrams to understand and document the requirements
- Create requirements, captured in DOORS and at sufficient detail, to provide a clear understanding to the implementation teams
- Attend interface working group meetings with the external MDA customer and representatives of the assigned external element engineering organization, as well as support program integration and testing efforts for the related interface
- Assist other Interface Engineers in developing ICDs for different Missile Defense System (MDS) Elements, supporting requirements engineering, use case development, and logical architecture modeling tasks
- Support leadership (both internal and external), developers, and testers by addressing messages, interface rules (transmit, receive, processing), questions, and test findings
Minimum Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in a STEM field, such as Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics, from an accredited university, with 8 years of related experience; or a Master's degree (preferred) in a STEM-related discipline with 6 years of experience; or a PhD in a related field with 4 years of experience
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Must possess an understanding of the systems engineering process and its principles
- Must have a proven track record of successfully applying system engineering principles to develop product solutions
- Must have experience in requirements elicitation, including the use of behavior diagrams as an analysis tool to understand and decompose requirements
- Must have significant experience in authoring ICDs and IDDs that are Data Item Description (DID)-compliant and to DoD Standards
- Demonstrated Systems Engineering skills and experience with interface engineering including authoring of ICDs and IDDs, to include:
- message definition and processing rules; message formatting (e.g. XML, VMF, et al)
- physical/network specifications and models, to include the ISO OSI model
- physical/network topologies and devices, network protocols (e.g. TCP/IP, UDP, et al)
- Requirements engineering and development of behavioral models and diagrams, including use cases, sequence diagrams, and activity diagrams
- Ability to function as part of an experienced team in developing systems engineering products and artifacts while adhering to the program Systems Engineering Management Plan (SEMP) and other processes
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, and prepare and brief presentations to the customer as needed
- Self-motivated and customer-oriented
Desired Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Experience working with IBM Rational's Dynamic Object-Oriented Requirements System (DOORS)
- Experience with Risk Management Framework (RMF)-based cyber security
- Experience with Agile or Iterative Development Methods
- Experience with authoring MDS ICDs and IDDs
- Experience authoring Complex Command and Control Systems ICDs and IDDs
- Strong knowledge of computer programming principles, facilitating clear communication with software development teams and understanding implementation limitations
- INCOSE Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) Certification
- Object Management Group Certified Systems Modeling Professional - Model Builder Fundamental (OCSMP - MBF)
Security Clearance
Candidates must currently have and be able to maintain a minimum DoD SECRET level security clearance.
