Adult Education Instructor at Northwest Tri-county Intermediate Unit 5

Position Summary:

The Northwest Tri-County IU5 Adult Education Program is seeking part-time Adult Education Instructors to provide individualized basic Language Arts, math, science, and social studies instruction for GED Exam preparation or for entry into career or post-secondary education. Instructors are needed for day and evening positions in Venango, Erie, Crawford, Clarion, Warren, and Forest Counties. 

Position Details:

Current Opening Location: Adult Education Center, 809 Peach St. Erie, PA

Schedule: This contracted position will average 8.5 hours/week as follows:

Tuesday and Thursday
Instructional time 5:30-8:00pm
Additional time for Professional Development, Plan and student support

Sample schedule: Tuesday: 4:00-5:00- Prep, 5:00-5:30 Student Support, 5:30-8:00 Instruction
Thursday: 4:00-5:00 Professional Development,5:00-5:30 Student Support, 5:30-8:00 Instruction

Hourly Rate: $23/hour

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited post-secondary institution or equivalent foreign credential
• Instructors that are teaching high school level mathematics, must have a secondary math teaching certification or a bachelor's degree of higher

Desired Qualifications:

• Current Valid Pennsylvania Teaching Certificate preferred
• Teaching Experience preferred
• Knowledge of Adult Education and College and Career Readiness Standards
• Experience working with ESL (English as a Second Language) students
