POSITIONDirector of Finance

CLASSIFICATION:  Exempt, Administrative Compensation Plan, 12-Month Work Calendar

REPORTS TO: Director of Business Services                  

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

Plans, develops, directs, coordinates, and reviews district programs in the areas of financial planning &

budget, payroll, accounts payable, purchasing, and fixed assets, to ensure efficient and effective support

for the educational process.

 

 

PRINCIPLE DUTIES (essential functions)

  • Assists with managing all fiscal affairs for the district, under the direction of the Director of Business Services, including financial planning and reporting, debt service management, and audit compliance.
  • Assists with the establishment and supervision of an accounting program in accordance with the Uniform System of Financial Records (U.S.F.R.).
  • Works directly with the CFO and Director of Business Services with the development and administration of the district's annual Expenditure Budget; the Annual Financial Report; meets all state-mandated deadlines and requirements pertaining to Budget and AFR reporting, dissemination, and control; responsible for preparing additional financial reports as requested or required.
  • Assists with the supervision of special and student activity accounts and account reconciliation.
  • Assists with supervision/oversight of fixed asset accounting, asset reconciliation, and inventories.
  • Recommends the establishment of and monitors the administration of financial records management and reporting procedures and techniques as they relate to the efficient functioning of the district.
  • Balances entries recorded in individual journals and ledgers; traces errors and records adjustments to revenues and expenditures posted to incorrect accounts; transfers data as necessary to the general ledger.
  • Works with auditors during all audits of school district accounts.
  • Follow District policies, procedures, and directives in a timely and appropriate manner
  • Performs other tasks as assigned.

 

 

Qualifications:          

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business or related field (preferred)
  • Minimum of five years in school finance required
  • Minimum of three years in school finance administration (Preferred)
  • Knowledge of fund accounting
  • Experience in budgetary planning and control (preferred)
  • Knowledge of grants management (preferred)
  • Knowledge of School ERP Pro software (preferred)
