Description

Production Operator, Job Summary:  

The Plant Operator is responsible for the production of Thiosulfates, Ammonium / Sodium Bisulfite Blends, and Sulfurous Acid, as well as periodic blending of various chemicals. This role involves operating equipment, handling chemicals safely, and ensuring accurate production processes primarily for Agricultural Industries and other industrial needs. 

Job Duties: 

  • Transfer chemicals from storage tanks to reactors for blending and creating chemical products 

  • Safely handle, blend, filter, and load finished products into Storage Tanks, Railcars, IBCs, and 55 Gallon containers 

  • Operate pumps, motors, valves, steam applications, cooling systems, and scrubber systems 

  • Monitor and report on products used in the manufacturing process using computer systems 

  • Operate lab equipment to monitor chemicals being processed 

  • Work both indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions 

  • Lift up to 50 lbs periodically 

  • Climb ladders and stairs as needed 

  • This is a 3:00PM to 11:30PM Swing schedule

Qualifications


Required Job Qualifications: 

  • High School Diploma or GED 

  • Basic math skills 

  • Willingness to learn and adapt 

  • Safety-minded with a willingness to communicate concerns 

  • Ability to work overtime and some weekends when required 

  • Good verbal and written communication skills 

  • Physical ability to walk, squat, and lift up to 50 lbs 

  • Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and railcars during an 8-hour shift 

  • Willingness to work in hot and cold environments 

  • Material Handling 

  • Forklift experience

Preferred Job Qualifications: 

  • Experience with chemical blending and equipment 

  • Knowledge of scrubbers, pumps, motors, and mixers 

  • Ability to accurately operate lab equipment 

  • Skill in managing multiple products being produced simultaneously 

  • Understanding of regulations involved in manufacturing, storage, and shipment of chemical products 

  • Familiarity with M3 and Paycom systems 

  • Strong safety work ethic and understanding of chemical risks 

  • Ability to develop risk assessment skills 

  • Capability to become a competent lead operator within a year, able to train others in all aspects of job duties 

This position reports to Rob Troutman (Area Manager) and/or Eric Hill (Supervisor) and does not handle PSM Chemicals. The ideal candidate will be reliable, work well with others, and be able to work independently with attention to detail in all aspects of the job.
