Description

Position Summary:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented UPS Apprentice to join our team. This entry-level role is designed for individuals looking to build a career in UPS power systems and electrical infrastructure. Under the guidance of experienced technicians, the apprentice will assist in the maintenance and repair of Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems and related equipment.

 

Throughout the duration of the Apprentice Program (1 year), apprentices are required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of Nationwide Power’s corporate office. It is understood that upon successful completion of the program, the apprentice will relocate to their designated permanent service region, as determined during the initial hiring and onboarding process.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the testing and repair of UPS systems and batteries
  • Perform routine maintenance and inspections under supervision
  • Support troubleshooting and repair of UPS systems and associated electrical components
    • Respond to emergency calls 24/7 when necessary
  • Learn to interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals
  • Maintain accurate service records and documentation
  • Adhere to all safety programs and policies
  • Participate in on-the-job training and classroom instruction as required
  • Maintain and secure company tools and equipment

Qualifications


Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required
    •  Technical or vocational training in electrical or electronics is preferred
  • Basic understanding of electrical systems and safety practices
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Proficient with hand and power tools
  • Displays a strong willingness to learn and grow
  • Can follow detailed instructions – Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
  • Strive to complete all tasks with Zero Defects (ZD)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

 

 

  • Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively
  • Work in various environments (e.g., data centers, industrial sites)
  • Valid driver’s license with auto insurance
  • Computer literate
    • Able to perform basic operations on admin-related software
  • Well organized and able to work independently

Preferred Skills (Not Required):

  • Familiarity with battery systems, inverters, or power distribution equipment.
  • Experience using multimeters, and other diagnostic equipment.
  • OSHA 10 or 30 certification.

 

Physical Demands:

While performing duties of the above jobs, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or other components; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk, hear and smell. The employee frequently is required to sit and climb or balance. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must have the ability to regularly lift at least 50 pounds.
