Job Description
As the Corporate Accounting Senior Analyst, you’ll be a key member of the corporate accounting team. This team is hiring two senior analysts who will support separate functions. The first is a Senior Analyst for Treasury supporting Best Buy’s treasury accounting activities, including derivatives, debt, cash flows, and strategic investments. The second is a Senior Analyst for Equity supporting the accounting associated with Best Buy’s equity activities such as stock-based compensation, earnings per share, and the statement of changes in shareholders’ equity.
Both roles will also be involved in preparing the related financial statement disclosures within the company’s 10-Q and 10-K filings as well as researching and determining the accounting treatment for new and evolving transactions within the treasury space. Each role will provide a great opportunity for personal growth and development as it offers a broad range of responsibilities and visibility to many layers of the management team. These roles will partner and collaborate with our teams in treasury, legal, tax, management reporting, external reporting, international controllership, and domestic controllership.
This role is remote eligible, which means you would work virtually from home or another non-Best Buy location

What you’ll do
- Treasury: prepare accounting, analysis and account reconciliation of the following areas: Derivative/hedge accounting, Strategic investments, Debt, Cash flows, Miscellaneous bank transactions (bank fees, interest income, etc.)
- Equity: prepare accounting, reconciliation, analysis and ad-hoc requests related to the following areas Stock-based compensation, Earnings per share, Equity roll forward, and Other equity related transactions (e.g. share repurchases, dividends, etc.)
- Compile and review various financial reporting schedules used for our external filings (10-Q/Ks, Press Releases)
- Research accounting guidance on complex transactions, including determining the proper accounting treatment and drafting accounting position memos.
- Support internal control processes, audit findings and key accounting determinations by partnering with Internal Audit & External Reporting.
- Determine and implement process improvements and/or automation to streamline processes for efficiency.
Basic qualifications
- 1.5 years of experience in an accounting capacity
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills
Preferred qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics, business, or related field
- Experience in applying US GAAP to large company situations, which includes researching and determining the accounting treatment for complex accounting transactions
- Strong US GAAP accounting knowledge and an ability to research questions as they arise
- Strong understanding of accounting processes and internal controls, with an ability to identify and address weaknesses in controls
- Experience in identifying process improvements and/or automation to streamline processes for efficiency
- CPA
- Experience with Oracle or similar ERP system
- Experience with OneStream or similar financial consolidation software
