JOB SUMMARY: The Director of Refrigeration & HVAC Maintenance is responsible for providing expertise and guidance on the mechanical and electrical technologies used in store construction and maintenance. This role will primarily deal with refrigeration, HVAC, and electrical systems. Additionally, this position will be responsible for interacting with the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) suppliers, staying in touch with innovative technologies, and remaining updated with/understanding the regulations and cost associated with the various choices.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Supervise, coach, and develop associates on the performance of their duties; complete performance reviews, provide continuous feedback to direct reports, and develop performance improvement plans as needed.
  • Obtain product quotes and order Refrigeration & HVAC equipment, building management controls, and electrical switch gear for new stores and remodels.
  • Conceive and help develop procedures and strategies that can be adopted companywide for energy improvements, improved performance, reduced downtime, and cost reduction.
  • Calculate and present Return on Investment for modern technologies and/or energy usage improvements.
  • Find and implement cost sharing rebates associated with technology upgrades.
  • Represent KVAT Food Stores, Inc. at technical meetings and professional organizations.
  • Support refrigeration field maintenance associates and the facility manager at the KVAT corporate support center.
  • Assist the final refrigeration design review team.
  • Ensure efficient and courteous customer service to store locations in support of the company mission to “Run the Best Store in Town!”
  • Responsible for attending on-site work during scheduled shifts to adhere to company time and attendance policies.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) required with Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
  • Must possess a valid and unrestricted U.S. Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record in accordance with the company’s insurance carrier standards.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in HVAC and refrigeration maintenance with completion of an accredited training program on the principals of refrigeration preferred.
  • Highly skilled with electronic refrigeration control systems and energy management systems. Must possess the ability to troubleshoot these systems effectively and efficiently as well as reprogram the systems.
  • Must possess a valid EPA refrigerant certification.
  • Must be well organized, dependable, maintain the strictest confidentiality, and exhibit professional conduct.
  • Must be detail oriented and possess strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and recognize work related needs to pursue successful completion.
  • Ability to think critically, innovate, and solve challenging technical issues.
  • Ability to work a varied work schedule with frequent travel.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and/or written instructions, perform routine and repetitive tasks, and have constant contact/interaction with various levels of individuals daily.
  • Ability to attend on-site work during scheduled shifts to adhere to company time and attendance policies.
