OVERVIEW:
Position is responsible for the development, distribution, and execution of user-friendly and innovative clinical training systems and programs relating to the company’s technology. Position will inspire and lead a professional education team that will translate complex clinical science and surgical techniques into learner-focused materials that resonate with physicians, optometrists, and their staff, field and internal teams including technical groups. Position will consult with Research and Development, Medical Affairs, Regulatory Affairs, Clinical Field Operations, and Marketing to develop in-depth clinical training content for customer and employee training that can be adapted to integrate new clinical evidence that can accelerate adoption and deliver exceptional clinical outcomes. The position will be responsible for global rollout of clinical training programs as well as monitoring global training activity to ensure consistency between the various geographical training centers. Position will establish, develop, and maintain the training program as well as train-the-trainer programs for all clinical activities encompassing the LAL technology, globally. Position will support product development and process improvement for customer training by providing clinical feedback on usability, patient selection, and methodology.
Requirements
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead the end-to-end creation of user-friendly, innovative clinical training and continuing education content (curricula, digital and print modules, workshops, and surgical education programs) which are designed to elevate LAL/LDD clinical knowledge and outcomes.
Establish clear metrics to measure training effectiveness (for both external customers and internal team members) and continuously refine learning approaches.
Manage a global team of clinical trainers responsible for development and execution of training programs globally to ensure consistent and efficient operations.
Partner with professional education and clinical training teams to develop physician, optometric, clinic staff and administrator training programs to accelerate adoption and deliver exceptional clinical outcomes.
Work with Marketing to ensure training aligns with customer, patient, and product positioning and messaging.
Partner with U.S. and OUS commercial teams to ensure training curriculum aligns with adoption processes and on-the-job requirements.
Collaborate with Medical Affairs and R&D to integrate clinical evidence and innovation into training initiatives
Engage with Regulatory Affairs and Quality Assurance to ensure training meets compliance and safety standards.
Assist with clinical feedback and/or usability if asked during product development processes relating to new LAL technology offerings.
Own the company’s Customer Training portal/website to ensure training has been successfully executed within the customer site, and system for compliance at the OUS Distributor level.
Assist with Customer onboarding activities as needed.
Lead establishment of regional global clinical/technical training centers and ensure training programs are adhered to for global consistency.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Deep experience in developing clinical training and continuing education content, curriculum, and programs
Understanding of intraocular lenses, cataract surgery, and refractive procedures.
Collaborative mindset with cross-functional influence
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Strong leadership experience with the ability to build, mentor, and inspire high-performing teams.
Ability to translate clinical science into engaging learning experiences, training program design, and digital learning tools
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Position will supervise U.S. training staff and have communication oversight with OUS team.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, and TRAINING:
Advance degrees in life sciences, optometry, ophthalmology, or related field preferred
10+ years of experience in clinical training or professional education or related roles within ophthalmology, medical devices, or healthcare
The training requirements on TRN-10007 Insider Trading Policy, TRN-10008 Global Anti-Bribery and Anti-Corruption Policy and TRN-10009 Code of Business Conducts and Ethics must be diligently completed within 30 days from the hiring date and on an annual basis.
