Job Purpose
Company Description
Education / Training
• Enrolled in a BS Engineering program, specializing in Metallurgy or Materials.
Science & Engineering with a focus in metals.
• Completed introductory classes in Materials Science and the associated lab work.
• Classroom/lab training in Scanning Electron Microscopy.
Preferred:
• Basic understanding of internal combustion engines; mechanical aptitude is a plus.

• Prepare metallographic samples.
• Perform mechanical and hardness tests.
• Perform SEM analyses.
• Publish technical reports.
• Maintain Materials Engineering equipment.
• Maintain safety and good housekeeping standards.
• Frequent contact with others outside the work group.
• Provide manufacturing, engineering, and field technical support.
• Physical labor required including lifting parts & equipment weighing up to 35 lb.
• Work is conducted in a manufacturing environment.
• Travel as required to fulfill work assignments (will vary).
Qualifications and Experience
Essential and Physical Activities Functions:
• Strength – This is a traditional office setting and requires the occasional lifting of weight of 50lbs. Lifting boxes of paper.
• Motion – This is a traditional office setting and requires the use of a computer, keyboard and other equipment. Employee will be sitting the majority of the day with occasional walking, climbing, squatting, kneeling and driving.
• Vision/Hearing Requirements – Must be able to communicate with customers and coworkers and utilize all office equipment.
• Work Environment – Work is in office sitting and not exposed to extremes of heat and cold. The position may require some work on the manufacturing floor that could expose candidate to all environmental aspects.
• Emotional Demands – Employee is expected to quickly pick up tasks in a fast-paced office environment and maybe required to give presentation, speak in public and work in teams.
• Safety – This is not a safety sensitive position. The position will require the use of all site-specific PPE.
Hourly rate will be determined based on major and credit hours completed at start of internships. Transcripts will be requested.
