Epsilyte in Peru, IL is seeking a proactive and technically skilled Reliability Specialist to support safe, reliable, and efficient operations of our Expandable Polystyrene (EPS) manufacturing facility. If you are looking for a challenging and rewarding career, we need to hear from you!


Position Overview:

 

The Reliability Specialist is responsible for ensuring the continuous functionality of plant equipment through ownership and stewardship of mechanical and electrical assets, driving improvements in equipment reliability, availability, and maintainability.


The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience, problem-solving skills, and a collaborative mindset to lead and support reliability initiatives across the site. 


Position Duties/Responsibilities:


Asset Reliability & Availability

  • Ensure reliable and safe operation of all plant mechanical and electrical equipment
  • Analyze equipment performance and failure history to identify trends and root causes
  • Develop and implement reliability strategies to reduce unplanned downtime

Preventive & Predictive Maintenance

  • Lead implementation and optimization of preventive and predictive maintenance programs
  • Leverage condition monitoring tools (vibration analysis, IR thermography, ultrasound, etc.) to anticipate failures

Continuous Improvement

  • Drive continuous improvement projects to enhance equipment performance and reliability
  • Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to identify opportunities and implement solutions
  • Develop and facilitate training for maintenance crafts

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure all reliability activities align with site safety standards and regulatory requirements
  • Participate in and support mechanical integrity and process safety programs

Capital Projects Support

  • Provide technical input on reliability, maintainability, and safety during design and installation of new equipment
Ability to solve technical problems and drive economic decisions while working with a diverse workforce and internal customersAbility to organize, prioritize, and own multiple initiatives while meeting and/or exceeding deadlinesOther duties as assigned or interested 


Requirements


Qualifications:  

  • 5+ years of experience in Mechanical and/or Electrical Maintenance and Reliability
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in a chemical, polymer, or manufacturing environment
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, including rotating equipment, motors, drives, instrumentation, etc.
  • Strong initiative, ability to work sufficiently as an individual and as part of cross functional teams
  • Adept at solving technical problems and driving economic decisions
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and own multiple initiatives while meeting or exceeding deadlines
  • Proficiency with CMMS systems and reliability tools (e.g., FMEA, RCA, RCM)
  • Demonstrated experience leading or contributing to maintenance and reliability improvement initiatives
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work cross-functionally with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams 
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency is required   

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor of Science degree in engineering; Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP)
  • Prefer 5-7 years of experience in EPS or chemical manufacturing is a strong plus
  • Vibration Analyst, Thermography, or Lubrication certifications
  • OSHA or PSM training AutoCAD experience is preferred

Other Considerations:  

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are critical for success
  • Physical ability to work around industrial equipment, including climbing of stairs and ladders
  • Willingness to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) and work around dust and chemicals
  • Strong initiative, ability to work sufficiently as an individual and as part of cross functional teams
  • This role is subject to the Transportation Workers Identification Credentialing rule or "TWIC" and requires the successful candidate to obtain a TWIC identification badge, allowing for unescorted access to the facility within a specific time

Wage and Benefits Transparency:  


The final base pay offer for this position will be determined by individual factors such as location, external market factors, internal equity, and the candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This position's expected salary range is $85,000 to $135,000 per year.    


This role is eligible for benefits, annual bonuses, and profit-sharing.
