Transfer Driver
Must have a CDL Class B or higher!
Position Summary
The Transfer Driver is responsible for safely transporting prepared meals, raw materials, equipment, and other goods between GA Foods facilities and customer locations as assigned. This role ensures all deliveries and pickups are completed accurately, on time, and in compliance with DOT regulations and company policies. The Transfer Driver may also assist with loading and unloading, vehicle inspections, and documentation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Operate Class B 26' vehicles to transfer products between facilities across Florida
• Load and unload vehicles using electric pallet jack and manually into freezers or warehouses
• Work Monday through Friday; overtime and weekends may be required based on route assignment
• Perform warehousing functions including product transfers to maintain accurate food supply inventory
• Communicate delivery and inventory updates with Supervisor
• Complete vehicle upkeep and maintenance including PMs and DVIR
• Assist with packing, storing, and staging of food items or supplies as needed
• Maintain required records and documentation accurately
• Attend and successfully complete all required company training
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
• Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
• Valid Class B CDL License
• No DUI in the last 5 years, 0–4 current points
• Current DOT medical card or ability to pass DOT medical exam
• Must successfully pass Level II background check, drug screening, and Clearinghouse verification
• Prior route, delivery, or distribution experience required
• Good planning skills and attention to detail
• Basic computer skills to operate a tablet for route and vehicle documentation
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and operate pallet jacks safely
Preferred Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent
• 1–2 years of professional driving experience
• Knowledge of DOT regulations and safe driving practices
• Strong time management, communication, and customer service skills
Physical Demands
• Frequent sitting, talking, hearing, and visual use
• Regular reaching, handling, and use of hands and arms
• Occasional walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, or crouching
• Frequent lifting up to 50 lbs
Work Environment
• Work is performed outdoors and inside a vehicle
• Exposure to heat, cold, rain, and other weather conditions
