Position Overview
Massabesic High School is seeking an enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and student-centered Head Competition Cheer Coach to lead our competitive cheer program. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, clear communication, and a commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive, and high-performing team culture. This coach will prioritize safety, sportsmanship, and academic achievement while promoting the core values of RSU #57 and Massabesic Athletics.
Responsibilities
Plan, organize, and conduct all practices, conditioning sessions, and team activities for the competition season.
Teach and demonstrate proper cheerleading techniques, stunting progressions, choreography, and competition routines with a commitment to athlete safety.
Ensure compliance with MPA regulations, NFHS Spirit Safety standards, and district policies.
Build and maintain a team culture rooted in discipline, accountability, and mutual respect.
Communicate effectively and promptly with athletes, parents/guardians, administration, and the athletic department.
Coordinate transportation, scheduling, and logistics for competitions and events.
Monitor academic progress and support student-athletes in meeting eligibility requirements.
Supervise assistant coaches and foster collaboration within the coaching staff.
Support program growth, including outreach to youth and future Mustang cheer participants when appropriate.
Qualifications
Required:
Previous cheerleading coaching experience, or equivalent athletic leadership experience.
Knowledge of stunting techniques and cheer safety protocols.
Successful completion of background checks and RSU #57 coaching certification requirements.
Preferred:
Experience coaching competitive cheer at the high school or all-star level.
NFHS coaching certifications (may be completed upon hire).
Current CPR/First Aid certification.

Stipend
