A wonderful family in Totowa is currently looking for a compassionate and patient caregiver to assist their elderly grandfather, who has been diagnosed with Dementia. The family is seeking someone who is understanding, calm, and Spanish-speaking, to provide companionship and assistance with daily living tasks. This is a long-term, ongoing position.

The family is seeking someone who is understanding, calm, and Spanish-speaking, to provide companionship and assistance with daily living tasks. This is a long-term, ongoing position.
- Start Date: ASAP
- End Date: Ongoing (long-term care need)
- Days: 2 days per week (family is flexible; ideally Tuesdays and Thursdays)
- Hours: Approximately 5 hours per day, ideally 12:00pm–5:00pm (as early as 10:00 am start time if needed)
- Rate: $20–$25/hour, depending on experience
- Caring for 1 adult: Male, late 90’s
Responsibilities
- Provide companionship and monitor safety throughout the day
- Assist with personal hygiene, including toileting and showering as needed
- Support grandmother in managing care needs
- Light housekeeping: tidy up bedroom, change bed linens, and open windows briefly to freshen the air
- Assist with meal setup and serving (no meal prep or feeding required)
- Monitor for accidents and help with cleanup as necessary
- Encourage mobility and provide support when walking with a walker
- Plug in home cameras if disconnected
Requirements
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
- 2+ years of experience in adult care, home aide, or related field
- CPR certification (or willing to obtain)
- Ability to pass a background check and social media screening
- Provide two professional care-related references
- Male and Spanish-speaking preferred
- Must be comfortable with family’s friendly dog (Poodle - no pet care needed)
- No driving required, though having a personal vehicle is a plus if the patient requests going somewhere and the family has approved the trip.
- Mileage reimbursement available for approved trips, if needed (less than 10 miles)
- If experienced (not required): Assist with health monitoring (blood sugar, blood pressure, pulse) if he allows
Compensation
This position pays $20–$25 per hour depending on experience. The family is seeking long-term, part-time help, 10 hours per week.
