The position: We are hiring a Maintenance Mechanic to help maintain SHA’s Central Office commercial building. This role is responsible for performing routine maintenance, repairs, and modifications to facilities, equipment, and common areas, while ensuring safe and efficient operations. The position also involves using approved power tools and light mechanical equipment to carry out daily tasks and keep the building running smoothly.

The ideal candidate has: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 2 years of experience in building/apartment maintenance or equivalent
  • Specialized training in at least one field of maintenance
  • Valid Washington state driver’s license with an insurable driving record
  • Experience in the commercial maintenance environment

What will you do?

  • Perform maintenance and repairs on buildings, equipment, and common areas.
  • Conduct various inspections, including REAC, pest, vacate, and move-in assessments.
  • Handle minor plumbing work, such as unclogging drains, replacing faucets, and installing shower heads.
  • Repair and maintain household components, including doors, windows, blinds, and stair nosing.
  • Clean and perform minor roof, gutter, and downspout repairs.
  • Address electrical and appliance issues, such as replacing outlets, light fixtures, and thermostats.
  • Perform unit vacate cleaning, including appliances, floors, walls, and fixtures.
  • Assist with pest control, tenant preparations, and installing pest exclusions.
  • Operate light-duty service vehicles and perform minor maintenance checks.
  • Follow safety protocols, attend required training, and report workplace hazards.
