We are looking for a talented Health, Safety, and Environment Leader-Moderate Complexity to join our team specializing in health and safety for our Cummins’ business in Ladson, SC.  

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:  

Foster a Collaborative Safety Culture 
By building strong cross-functional relationships, you'll ensure that all teams understand their responsibilities and are actively engaged in promoting a positive health, safety, and environmental (HSE) culture. 

Empower Employee Participation 
You’ll create inclusive opportunities for employees to contribute to HSE programs, policies, and procedures—boosting engagement and ownership across the organization. 

Lead Strategic Risk Management 
Through hazard and environmental aspect identification and risk assessments, you'll uncover improvement opportunities and close compliance gaps, enhancing overall site safety and sustainability. 

Drive Goal-Oriented Planning 
You’ll set clear HSE targets and objectives, manage action plans, and ensure timely execution—aligning site performance with organizational goals. 

Strengthen Site Support Systems 
By leading training, skill development, and internal communications, you’ll build a knowledgeable and responsive workforce equipped to handle HSE challenges. 

Ensure Regulatory and Data Compliance 
You’ll manage HSE documentation and interface with regulatory bodies, ensuring compliance with legal standards and data privacy regulations. 

Champion Continuous Improvement 
Using data-driven insights and audit results, you’ll lead tactical improvement plans and management system reviews, driving ongoing enhancements in HSE performance. 

Develop Future HSE Leaders 
Through coaching and succession planning, you’ll nurture talent and build resilient teams, ensuring long-term success and leadership in HSE practices.

Master HSE Systems and Compliance 
Leverage your expertise in HSE management systems, emergency preparedness, and regulatory compliance to ensure operational excellence. Use performance metrics and evaluations to identify risks, track progress, and drive continuous improvement. 

Qualifications

Education/Experience: 

College, university, or equivalent degree in Occupational Health, Safety or Environmental required. Professional certification in HSE-related field preferred. 

Significant relevant experience required, including management of health, safety and/or environmental ISO Standards required. 5-7 years of experience, 1-2 years management experience. 

 

Additional Details: 

Team Management experience essential, with experience of managing direct reports across multiple shifts. Ability to identify & address ‘Big Rocks’ & key risks and manage changing priorities whilst delivering on KPI's. 

Experience managing Health & Safety in a Manufacturing environment, responding to incidents & prioritizing engineered solutions to drive risk reduction. 

Strong communication skills, with experience of driving change and safety improvement through influence and engagement cross functionally. 

This role will be on the Sile Leadership Team; therefore, experience of managing stakeholders, both internally & externally, is essential. 

Budget management experience preferred.  

 

Compensation  

Please note that the salary range provided is a good faith estimate on the applicable range. The final salary offer will be determined after considering relevant factors, including a candidate’s qualifications and experience, where appropriate.
