Qualifications:
Hold a high school diploma or equivalent.
Have three years of experience in work involving the maintenance and repair of heating, ventilating, and air conditioning equipment.
Possess a valid Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Technician Certification of the appropriate level, commensurate with the type of equipment serviced, issued under the authority of the Federal Environmental Protection Agency.
Hold and maintain a valid driver's license with no serious violations.
Have excellent integrity and demonstrate good moral character & initiative.
Exhibit a personality that demonstrates interpersonal skills to relate well with students, staff, administration, parents, and the community.
Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing, using proper grammar and vocabulary.
Provide proof of U.S. citizenship or legal resident alien status by completing Federal Form I-9 in compliance with the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986.
Provide evidence that a criminal record history check has been conducted and clearance has been given by the Department of Education. During the initial six month period provide a sworn statement that the individual has not been convicted of a crime or a disorderly persons offense in accordance with 18A:6-7.1.
Provide evidence that health is adequate to fulfill the job functions and responsibilities, with reasonable accommodation pursuant to 42 U.S.C. 12101 and in accordance with N.J.A.C. 6:3-4A-4.
Pass the State required Mantoux Intradermal Tuberculin Test as required by N.J.A.C. 6:3-4A-4.
Meet such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.
Maintain, repair, assemble, and install condensers, compressors, motors, heat exchangers, heat pumps, stationary boilers, coc towers, and other units of heating, ventilating, and air conditioning equipment.
Assemble and connect pipes and ducts used in piping refrigerants, steam, hot water, and warm or conditioned air.
Must be familiar with and able to manipulate open architecture and proprietary building management system.
Overhaul and repair pumps, compressors, controls, piping, ducts, and other equipment used in heating, ventilating, conditioning systems.
Calibrate thermostats.
Check the operation of the water-cooling tower and drains water lines when switching from air conditioning to heating.
Keep records and files.
Use the principles of refrigeration cycles and temperature measurement in repairing and maintaining air conditioning equipment.
Repair and maintain a variety of refrigeration units systems.
Use standard tools, materials, methods, and practices involved in the repair and maintenance of heating, ventilating, and air conditioning equipment.
Protect against occupational hazards and safety precautions involved in the repair and maintenance of heating, ventilating, air conditioning equipment.
Organize assigned work and develop effective work methods.
Take needed safety precautions in performing the work.
Take care of tools, equipment, materials, and supplies.
Use computers and/or electronic equipment to fulfill job functions.
Serve as a role model for students and staff in demonstrating positive attitudes, appropriate attire and grooming, and an effective work ethic.
Protect confidentiality of records and information about staff and use discretion when sharing any such information.
Participate in appropriate in-service and workshop programs and attend any required meetings.
Display the highest ethical and professional behavior in working with students, parents, school personnel, and outside agency's associated with the school.
Adhere to New Jersey school law, State Board of Education rules and regulations, State and local health agency requirement Board of Education policies and regulations, school regulations and procedures, and contractual obligations.
Perform any duties and responsibilities that are within the scope of employment, as assigned by their supervisor, and not other prohibited by law or regulation.
