Position Title: Software Principal Engineer
Position Location: Overland Park, KS. Can work remotely
Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm
Summary of Duties: Responsible for supporting the software engineering development team in various activities under the direction of a technical lead. Participate in the design and development activities associated with software, including writing scripts for performance, testing, and data analysis. Review and provide feedback on design documents, and collaborate with developers to write and test software for various products. Document work and results, including test plans, and provide status reports. Conduct qualification tests, analyze results, and generate presentations to inform leadership. Engage in the software development lifecycle, which includes research, new development, modification, security, correction of errors, reuse, re-engineering, and maintenance of software products. Contribute to the identification and elimination of performance bottlenecks and make performance-related recommendations. Participate in gathering business requirements and product definition, including feature prioritization and customer usability studies. Create technical documentation of software products and solutions. Can work remotely.
Qualifications: This position requires a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field of study. The employer will alternatively accept a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field of study plus 3 years of experience in the job offered or 3 years of experience as Software Engineering or related occupation. Requires experience with or knowledge of: running qualification tests, analyzing results, and generating presentations; Java, C, C++ Programming; Bash; and PowerShell Scripting. Experience may be gained through graduate-level coursework, research, internship, or teaching. Can work remotely.
