Your Role:
This position will primarily be focused on statutory valuation and financial reporting for the Company’s Life, Annuity, and Health Business.
Perform work under minimal supervision. Rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Work with significant authority on assignments of higher technical complexity and variety. Possess expert skills with internal and external statistical plans and sources of data, and the use of spreadsheet applications.
Responsibilities:
- Prepares and reviews monthly valuation process for the life, annuity, and health business, ensuring accurate and timely production of monthly valuations, and reviews and approves all necessary audit and control activities related to these responsibilities
- On an ongoing basis identifies opportunities to automate processes and expand modeling capabilities, and works with the team to implement these enhancements
- Implements assumption and methodology changes to actuarial models, ensuring compliance with all model risk management standards, especially documentation and testing requirements
- Participates in large-scale department projects
- Compiles, consolidates, and analyzes actuarial information to produce statements, schedules, filings, and reports of a more complex nature
- Provides actuarial analyses, responses, and communications to product areas
- Maintains awareness / currency of emerging issues affecting product lines
- Maintains documentation of actuarial analysis
- Provides technical advice to lower-level positions and other functional areas
- May lead the work of others (mentors, prioritizes, delegates and reviews assignments)
- Produces accurate and timely valuations every month
- Produces accurate and timely projection model runs as needed and completes all necessary audit and control activities related to these responsibilities
- Prepares actuarial portion of financial reports in accordance with and Statutory Accounting Principles (SAP)
- Provides actuarial information related to financial statements, tax returns, and / or risk position
- Analyzes and reviews reserves and non-forfeiture values of new and existing products
- Assists in the annual update of assumptions, implementing and / or auditing the implementation of assumptions into actuarial models
- Develops a deep knowledge of Statutory and tax reporting requirements
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related discipline
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant Actuarial experience; Statutory Life PBR experience is preferred
- Requires expertise in modeling, programming, or quantitative analysis
- Demonstrated experience in communicating and presenting statistical information to all levels of management
- Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) designation is required, and candidate is typically completing additional coursework towards Fellowship (may have completed Fellowship)
