Job Summary
The successful candidate will work with a team of technicians, chemists, scientists, and engineers in a fast-paces and dynamic work environment in the operation of our preclinical imaging laboratory which serves for many researchers in the Department of Radiology and Biomedical Imaging.
The R&D engineer/technician for this position will be involved in many aspects of preclinical imaging research operation, including management of the high-performance preclinical imaging instruments such as microPET/CT and microSPECT/CT that are not highly specialized technologies, quality control of routine and experimental research imaging studies that require study design and clearly delineated expected timelines and outcomes, maintaining inventory of products and supplies for the facility, and maintenance/troubleshooting of imaging and other associated instruments such automatic gamma counter and digital autoradiography instrument.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $78,900 - $167,300 (Annual Rate).

Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., biology, bioengineering, biochemistry, etc.) and / or equivalent experience / training.
- Experience of working with both preclinical PET/CT and SPECT/CT instruments
- Experience of working with small animal models
- Experience of lab management for compliances and safety
- Experience of preclinical PET, SPECT, and CT imaging data management
- Experience of billing and scheduling of recharge core activities
- Ability to work independently, exercising judgment and initiative
- Working knowledge of engineering principles and methods in order to independently perform professional engineering design work of limited scope and complexity.
- Working knowledge necessary to begin independent application of principles, practices and procedures in the completion of assignments.
- Organizational abilities and decision-making to prioritize work assignments.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work in a collaborative manner, to assist in identifying any challenges or barriers.
- Demonstrated excellent attendance and reliability

- Previous exposure to research laboratory environment
- Experience in imaging science research
- Ability to work with diverse team of researchers, scientists, and students
