Be Part of the Story at The Walt Disney Company as the Strategic Operations Project Manager, Licensed Product Design & Development! The PDD team is responsible for designing and developing licensed product for all of Disney’s brands and franchises around the world.

This role is part of the Strategic Operations team, which enables and supports the Licensed PDD team. The Operations part of the organization is accountable for project management, process design and tactical operations across multiple channels and regions, including ongoing automation, project management, process improvement and optimization to ensure the work—and related teams—are operating effectively and efficiently.

The Strategic Operations PM will be responsible for supporting global product approval processes and optimization efforts, project managing product development across brands and franchises, and other related operational needs for the PDD teams in North America. The Ops PM will ensuring alignment across studio partners, internal teams, and licensees. This role requires strong project management, cross-functional collaboration, and communication skills to drive product approvals and streamline workflows.

This role reports to the Senior Manager, Strategic Operations.
 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the global rollout of new development workflows, impacting over 400 employees across multiple regions.
  • Maintain and enforce updated studio guidelines for North America (NAM) designers through regular product reviews.
  • Manage project timelines and establish key milestones and deliverables, in alignment with studio calendars, licensee development calendars, and product approval lifecycle.
  • Facilitate milestone meetings and working sessions between studio teams, designers, and licensees to ensure alignment and timely approvals.
  • Support and maintain relationships with 10 studio partners, coordinating meeting invites, managing approvals, and fostering collaboration across teams.
  • Collaborate with designers and executives to troubleshoot development issues and ensure product quality.
  • Manage ad-hoc PD asset clearance through Legal, Business Affairs, and Trademark processes.
  • Deliver ad hoc assets outside of style guide processes for new film-related toy lines.
  • Maintain comprehensive tracking systems to monitor project progress and report status updates.
  • Escalate off-track deliverables promptly to leadership to ensure timely resolution.
  • Continually evaluate and implement process improvements to maximize efficiencies in ways of working, leveraging new technology, platforms and tools to enhance efficiency.
  • Organize and maintain final asset storage for easy access and archival.
  • Demonstrate strong initiative and independence in managing multiple concurrent projects.
  • Maintain accurate documentation throughout the development lifecycle for internal reference.
  • Gather and analyze data sets related to design workload and other related subjects
  • Develop, document, and adapt harmonized processes for licensed product design as needed
  • Assist product design teams with new and existing system adoption, usage, and troubleshooting
  • Think strategically with a solution-oriented approach to problem solving
  • Build relationships with global partners and Licensees as needed

Qualifications

  • 5+ years project management experience or related work experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for internal and external communication
  • Proficiency with PC and/or Mac office and data management software programs
  • Analytically-minded with Excel proficiency in basic data analysis and insight generation
  • Solid organizational skills; able to juggle and prioritize projects and tasks
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to keep accurate records
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship skills
  • Strong team player that works cooperatively and effectively with others to set goals, resolve problems, and make decisions
  • Comfortable communicating with all partners at all levels
  • Flexible to change while able to manage and support multiple projects concurrently
  • Proactive and demonstrated initiative able to manage day-to-day work-flow with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business operations field or equivalent experience

The hiring range for this position in Glendale, CA is $115,500.00-$154,800.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
