Oversight of Sterile processing department and operations.
-Asset to Department Manager, assist in department scheduling and assignments for 24/7 operation.
-Coach and assist shift supervisors to workload, staffing and operations of the process.

• Utilize current standards such as AAMI, AORN, SGNA, and APIC
• Responsible for quality and regulatory audits for CSP.
• Oversees and assesses the activities of flexible endoscope training, reprocessing, and cleaning verification processes for these devices to ensure that current standards and guidelines are being utilized.
• Assesses learning needs of staff and customers using a variety of sources. Analyzes the results and communicates the findings to departmental leadership.
• Assists in the interviewing process and selection of staff.
• Participates in the development of performance standards, evaluates performance utilizing tools and checklist. Assists in performance management planning, initiates or makes recommendations for personnel actions.
• Participates in the individual assessment to include scenarios requiring return demonstration of technical skills and proficiency standards related to all Central Sterile activities and flexible scope reprocessing.
• Check procedure trays and instrument sets for accuracy, consistency and condition of instruments.
• Review and approves quality control and investigates and resolves discrepancies.
• Actively performs audits and assessments related to activities within the Quality Plan.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of the QA system by completing audits of sets.
• Participates in the inspecting all trays for cleanliness.
• Encourages staff to attend educational programs by attending on-site in services, off-site meetings/seminars, and other available options.
• Provide the manager with timely feedback on individual performance and progress. Performs other duties as assigned.
• Assists in the maintenance and preparation of records, files and other documents as required by TJC and other regulatory bodies.
• Supports all cost containment strategies, Consider cost effectiveness and customer satisfaction when planning educational activities and implementing utilizing current or new strategies/products.
• Develops individual and team specific orientation and preceptor programs.
• Plan and coordinates unit specific competencies that will ensure the highest quality care delivery and customer satisfaction.
• Arranges with vendors, as needed, to provide training and demonstration to support departmental operations. Schedules departmental in-services and maintains a record of CEU’s obtained in department for staff.
Requirements
High School Diploma or GED required. Graduate of accredited Central Processing or Surgical Technology Certification Program preferred.
2 years central service or surgical experience required.
Ability to read, write and comprehend English preferred.
Experience in personal computer systems and programs required.
