We are seeking a Mid Shift UV Disinfection Manager at WVU Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, West Virginia.
The UV Disinfection Manager oversees the hospital’s ultraviolet (UV-C) and electrostatic disinfection, and other no-touch disinfection program to ensure consistent, effective, and safe disinfection practices. This position is responsible for managing UV Specialists, coordinating daily schedules, monitoring disinfection activity reports, and maintaining compliance with infection prevention standards. The UV Manager also performs UV disinfection duties directly as needed to support workload balance or fill in during staff shortages.
Responsibilities:
Program Oversight & Management
- Supervise and support UV Specialists, ensuring consistent adherence to infection prevention protocols.
- Create, assign, and manage daily and weekly UV schedules across operating rooms, isolation rooms, and patient discharges.
- Monitor completion logs, reviewing data for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with infection prevention standards.
- Generate weekly and monthly performance reports summarizing room coverage, cycle completion rates, and response times.
- Identify trends or gaps in UV usage and collaborate with EVS leadership and Infection Prevention to optimize deployment.
- Conduct routine audits and validations of UV cycle and other logs and equipment usage records.
Reporting & Communication
- Prepare and distribute detailed reports to Infection Prevention and EVS leadership, including metrics such as utilization rates, machine downtime, cycle adherence and other performance metrics.
- Communicate daily with nursing supervisors and EVS leadership to prioritize high-risk disinfection needs (e.g., isolation or OR turnover).
- Report equipment malfunctions, safety incidents, or deviations from standard operating procedures immediately to management and Biomedical Engineering.
Equipment & Training
- Maintain operational readiness of all UV and electrostatic and other equipment, ensuring preventive maintenance and repairs are completed promptly.
- Train new UV Specialists on safe and effective operation of UV-C and electrostatic and other no-touch disinfection systems, including documentation requirements.
- Partner with Infection Prevention to stay current on technology updates and best practices for environmental disinfection.
Operational Support
- Perform UV and electrostatic disinfection or other assigned duties personally when staffing levels or operational priorities require.
- Ensure all safety procedures are followed when operating UV-C, electrostatic, and other equipment, including area clearance and PPE use.
- Assist with setup, troubleshooting, and redeployment of UV devices across hospital units.

Qualifications:

- High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a UV Specialist, Environmental Services Supervisor, or similar role in healthcare.
- Experience with UV-C systems, electrostatic disinfection, or other no-touch disinfection equipment required.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proficient in scheduling, data tracking, and performance reporting.
- Ability to train and mentor staff on technical equipment and procedures.
- Detail-oriented, with a commitment to infection control and patient safety.
- Competent in Microsoft Excel or other data-tracking tools for reporting.
