Executive Director – Northern Virginia Adolescent Treatment Center
Acadia Healthcare is seeking an experienced Executive Director to lead the operational opening of our brand-new adolescent substance use disorder treatment facility located near Dulles Airport in Northern Virginia. This new 16-bed facility is slated for first patient day March 26, 2026 and will treat adolescents at ASAM 3.7, 3.5, and Crisis Stabilization levels of care.
This program is uniquely fully funded for 5 years through a regional 5-county consortium — providing strong financial stability and support as the Executive Director launches and builds the program from the ground up.

Responsibilities
- Serve as the facility’s senior-most operational leader responsible for all business, clinical, quality, and regulatory functions
- Own startup execution: regulatory readiness, licensing completion, survey preparation, and all pre-go-live milestones
- Recruit and develop the Day-1 core leadership team (Clinical, Nursing, Risk/Quality, Plant Ops, HR)
- Lead patient safety, quality outcomes, clinical excellence, and compliance with all state and federal regulations
- Drive census development, community engagement, and strategic partnerships with government agencies and referral sources
- Foster a strong culture of teamwork, service excellence, and family-centered care
- Collaborate with Group CEO and Acadia corporate divisions on programming, policy, contracting, and performance measures
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s preferred
- Previous operational leadership experience in behavioral health, residential treatment, or related healthcare settings
- Prior new program startup experience strongly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to independently drive execution, build high-performing teams, and influence across multiple stakeholders
- Adolescent behavioral health experience preferred, not required
