The Courtyard by Marriott in beautiful Traverse City is seeking a dynamic Bistro Supervisor to lead our Food & Beverage team and oversee daily operations of our Bistro, which proudly serves breakfast and dinner to our guests. JOB SUMMARY: As the Bistro Supervisor, you’ll play a key role in ensuring smooth service, maintaining high standards, and inspiring a team that delivers exceptional guest satisfaction.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of the Bistro personnel including interviewing applicants, complete employee evaluations, coach and counsel employees, recommend disciplinary actions, promote teamwork and employee morale, assign and delegate duties
- Ensure compliance with MIOSHA standards to provide a safe work environment
- Knowledge and implementation of all Bistro brand standards
- Maintain above average food quality and service guest satisfaction scores in the Bistro
- Maintaining updated TIPs training for all Bistro associates in accordance with brand and state regulations.
- Assist General Manager with: department meetings, payroll, monitoring overtime, preparing weekly forecast, and weekly work schedules
- Complete additional administrative duties that include: inventory, ordering, and assisting General Manager with store runs
- Attend and participate in staff meetings
- Conduct monthly departmental meetings to review new procedures, guest satisfaction scores, and solicit input from employees
- Expertise in property management system
- Maintain labor budget and adjust schedule to avoid unnecessary labor and OT cost
- Responsible for all shifts being covered
- Knowledge of all emergency procedures and how to act on them
- Adhere to proper key control procedures
- Report any unusual occurrences or requests to the General Manager immediately
- Knowledge of budgeted departmental PORs for control of expenses

REQUIRED/PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of 1-2 years of Food & Beverage experience
- Supervising experience is preferred

ADDITIONAL ELIGIBILITY QUALIFICATIONS
Satisfactory criminal background screening required – Valid driver’s license and safe driving record may be required
SUPERVISORY RESPONSBILITY
This position may manage other bistro staff members.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to verbally communicate, listen, stand for long periods of time, ability to walk, kneel, stoop, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds.
EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This position requires variable hours based on the needs of the hotel including nights and weekends.
