Position Summary:
Eskola, LLC’s Gulf Coast Region is seeking a motivated individual to join our growing team! The Commercial Roofing Safety Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that all commercial roofing projects adhere to the highest safety standards. This role involves developing, implementing, and monitoring safety programs to protect employees, subcontractors, and the public while maintaining compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations. The Safety Coordinator will also be responsible for employee safety and PPE training in the Orlando / Daytona area.
The ideal candidate will possess a blend of technical expertise, practical experience in roofing or construction environments, and a proactive approach to workplace safety.
Key Responsibilities & Duties:
Safety Program Implementation:
- Work with the Safety Director to implement and maintain comprehensive safety policies and procedures tailored to commercial roofing operations.
- Continuously evaluate and update safety protocols based on new regulations, industry best practices, and technological advancements.
Site Inspections and Compliance:
- Ensure all roofing projects comply with OSHA, NFPA, and local regulatory standards.
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections on job sites to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions to mitigate risks.
Training and Development:
- Deliver safety training programs for roofing crews, subcontractors, and other staff including but limited to fall protection, HazCom, aerial and scissor lift, forklift, etc.
- Coordinate with external agencies for specialized training and certification programs (e.g., OSHA 30-hour training).
- Ensure that all team members are aware of safety procedures and emergency response plans.
Risk Management and Incident Response:
- Perform detailed risk assessments and hazard analyses before, during, and after roofing projects.
- Lead incident investigations, document findings, and implement corrective measures to prevent future occurrences.
- Manage emergency response plans and ensure that all personnel are familiar with evacuation and emergency procedures.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, incident reports, training sessions, and compliance certifications.
- Prepare and present regular safety performance reports to senior management and project stakeholders.
Collaboration & Communication:
- Work closely with the Safety Director, project managers, construction supervisors, and external safety consultants to integrate safety into all phases of project planning and execution.
- Act as a liaison with regulatory agencies and industry organizations, ensuring open lines of communication regarding safety standards and improvements.
Regulatory and Industry Standards:
- Stay current with OSHA regulations, local safety laws, and industry best practices.
- Ensure that all equipment, tools, and materials meet required safety standards.
Position Requirements and Qualifications:
Experience:
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in construction safety management, with specific experience in commercial roofing is strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to lead safety programs and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Must be able to successfully complete a pre-employment background check and drug screening as a condition of hire.
Certifications:
- Valid OSHA certifications (e.g., OSHA 30-hour) as well as First Aid & CPR are required.
- Additional certifications such as OSHA 500/510, First Aid and CPR Instructor, Forklift & Aerial trainer are a plus.
Skills:
- Extensive knowledge of construction safety regulations and best practices.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to train and motivate teams.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficient in incident investigation, risk assessment, and safety data analysis.
- Familiarity with project management software and safety management systems is advantageous.
Work Environment:
- Combination of office work and frequent visits to active roofing job sites.
- Ability to work in various weather conditions, climb ladders, and access roofs to physically inspect high-elevation work areas.
- Must be comfortable working at heights and capable of safely using ladders and other elevated access equipment.
Driving:
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and maintain an acceptable driving record that meets company and insurance requirements for travel to and from job sites.
Preferred Skills & Certifications:
- Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish is preferred.
