An exciting opportunity is available to join Gewalt Hamilton Associates (GHA), an employee-owned, multi-faceted civil engineering and land surveying company that has built a reputation of civil engineering with a personal approach. We are seeking a Senior Planner to join our growing Civil Design team in Vernon Hills, IL.
How you will make an impact:
The Senior Planner will report to the Project Manager and Senior Project Manager and would be in charge of leading a new planning initiative at GHA. This role is an exempt, salary, position. We offer a hybrid work environment.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the Division Director to shape and expand the firm's offerings, market presence, and revenue.
- Coordinate directly with clients and internal teams to ensure successful delivery of projects - on time and within budget - while meeting technical requirements and regulatory standards.
- Support proposal development, pursuit strategies, and relationship-building with clients and consultant partners.
- Identify new business opportunities by maintaining relationships with existing clients and pursuing strategic new partnerships.
- Represent GHA at industry events, conferences, and networking functions to raise visibility and strengthen professional connections.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior staff, supporting a hybrid work environment and helping build team training programs.
- Uphold and contribute to continuous improvement of the Division's Quality Management Plan.

Qualifications
What you will bring to Gewalt Hamilton Associates, Inc.
Education:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Urban Planning & Policy, Urban Design, Community Development, or Landscape Architecture from an accredited college/university.
Experience:
- Valid driver’s license and registered insured personal vehicle.
- 10-12 years of planning experience, including at least 4 years in a managerial role.
- Experience with park district and municipal planning preferred.
- American Institute of Certified Planners certification a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Self-motivated individual looking to take the next step in their career.
- Excellent public speaking and presentation skills.
- Capability to facilitate meetings and focus groups.
- Proficiency in Adobe Suite and other graphic processing programs preferred.
- Experience in project management and leading a team.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to manage complex projects.
