Job title: Afterschool Coordinator
Job type: Part-time (20 hours per week) during the school year (August – May)
Work schedule: Monday through Friday; 2:30pm – 6:15pm
Location: Rockfish Elementary (Afton, VA)
Pay: $25 per hour
Minimum requirements: Must be at least 21 years old with an endorsement or degree in a child-related field such as elementary education, nursing, or recreation and at least 1 year of child care experience.
Job responsibilities:
- Create daily lesson plans and enrichment activities.
- Help students with their homework assignments.
- Monitor indoor and outdoor time with a focus on safety, cooperative play, and fun.
- Support the positive behavior of students in a respectful, caring, and patient manner.
- Ensure that all classroom rules, policies, and licensing guidelines are adhered to.
- Communicate and interact regularly and appropriately with students, parents, and staff. Maintain positive relationships.
- Meet on a regular basis with other members of the team in planning activities and discussion of individual children’s needs.
- Participate in staff meetings and professional development training.
Qualifications:
- Endorsement or degree in a child-related field such as elementary education, nursing, or recreation.
- At least 1 year of experience in licensed childcare or school setting (K-12).
- At least 21 years old with the ability to speak, read, and write in English.
- Basic computer/technology skills.
- Ability to pass background checks, a physical exam, and TB screen or test.
- Ability to lift 40 pounds, work indoors and outdoors, and engage in activity with students.
- Must have reliable, independent transportation.
- Nice-to-have: Experience with dual language learners and/or bilingual language skills (English and Spanish).
